Sebastian grew slightly irritated but knew he needed to cool off for the better of the group.

"When the infection first started, me and a group of people already predetermined where we'd go," Sebastian began. "We made an effective system to keep the Infected away. But now... now--"

"You don't know how to fight them do you," Maverick assumed. "How the fuck did you survive for so long?"

"Simple really. We have a system in place; when we encounter them... everyone follows these rules. If it becomes too dangerous, we simply have someone 'volunteer' to take them out."

"What do you mean by volunteer," Mason asked. Soon, however, Maverick immediately to his own horror realized what Sebastian was talking about.

"Son of a bitch," Maverick growled as he punched Sebastian square in the face, busting his nose entirely as blood ran down into the sewer water. Stunned, Sebastian grew terrified almost immediately until the rest of the Dwellers came to his aid, weapons drawn.

"You are a fucking pussy," Maverick yelled in a complete rage. "Who the fuck sacrifices their own people to the damn Infected?!" Some Dwellers then began to move in, attempting to restrain Maverick from hurting their leader. It took at least 10-15 men to do so.

"Someone who needs to survive needs people to survive," Sebastian said. "I know this system is foreign to you, but I know from your appearance that you are stronger than the sacrifices that I've had all put together. Hopefully, you'll be able to see things my way."

Before long, footsteps, like a herd of animals could be heard in the distance. The maniacal laughter began to grow, but then, a voice spoke up.

"They're here somewhere, but we need to find them. Spread out and sweep the tunnels. Those fuckers don't know what soil they're on."

Horror and fear began to grow on the faces of the Dwellers.

"Sebastian," a community resident said. "I know we typically stay underground for safety, but don't you think it's time we--"

Before the Dweller could speak any further, an Infected managed to take him down. Using her own bare hands, the Infected managed to wrap her hands around the resident's throat and started to strangle her victim. Around the area where the initial attack took place, Infected were breaking through, approaching swiftly as some continued to work together to breakthrough.

Soon after, a snap could be heard, like a twig. It was indeed the neck of the strangled victim being broken and thus causing death to the community resident. Some of the Dwellers tried to stay back and fight, while others were panicking and trying to find a way out.

At this point, Maverick was let go due to the struggle and now he had to make a choice; save the Dwellers despite their ideas on handling issues, or leave them and take only Mason and Gabriel with him.

Back at Haven, Taylor was now restless and began to worry.  With the absence of Maverick's group going on 2 months, she decided not to wait any longer and started to gather her stuff that she would normally carry.

"Tay-Tay, you really shouldn't be going out there," Karen warned. "It's not worth risking both yours and the child's life for them. Besides, I'm sure they've just gotten held up."

"Fuck that shit," Taylor responded. "I may not be as 100% as I used to be, but they're counting on me; besides, you don't know Maverick the way I do."

"Oh," Karen teased. "Is that what's going on?"

"The fuck? Hell no... besides, he's gay."

Taylor then rolled her eyes as she continued to work by grabbing more items; medicine, food, maps, and other supplies she'd need.

"Look Tay," Karen said. "I was just trying to cheer you up. Besides, I also want to look out for you. As a mother myself, I know this shit doesn't come easy. Before you do go though, I'd like to come with you."

"Thanks, but I can handle myself just fine."

" I'm afraid I didn't  ask," Karen said more sternly.

Taylor rolled her eyes again. She knew by this point there was no point in arguing with Karen anymore. Even though Taylor thought that she was stubborn, she was often rather comforting. Soon, Taylor and Karen set out together on the search for Maverick's group in the last known area they could recall.

Back in the Dweller's sewer system, Sebastian, Maverick's group, and the remaining Dwellers were running towards one of the exits that they had built with more than a dozen following behind. "How much longer till you think we'll reach the surface," Gabriel asked.

"Just around the bend," Sebastian replied.

The laughter started to spread. Some of the Infected could keep up while others fell further and further behind. This would continue for a while until Maverick and the company finally reached the surface, reaching a clearing. When they ran for the woods, they were met by another group of Infected-- as if they had coordinated this to be so. The group tried many other different ways, but eventually, they were cornered at the bottom of a cliff, nowhere to go.

"Well guess this is it guys," Mason sighed. "We're going to fucking die and not even Taylor is coming to save us."

"Gotta stay strong man," Gabriel said. "We just gotta have hope."

The odds were now against the survivors; the Infected, laughing and gleefully in a twisted manner ready to slaughter with their intense blood lust. Any weapons found from their other victims-- knives, guns, bats; anything they could find. In the distance, however, things would change. It would seem as though a vehicle began approaching, a small jeep. Maverick tried to identify the vehicle in the distance but wasn't sure of who it was.

"Guess there's no real way out is there," Maverick said to himself.
