Everyone stepped as far away from the door, and from Reginald as possible, with Jonah and Mae the only ones by his side. Large gashes ran along both his legs, and dark blood stained the surrounding areas of his grey suit, turning dark velvet. Jonah got up and paced the bridge, froze for a moment in thought, and then went over to the bridge board.
"What do you think you're doing?" Mae asked, her eyes a deep shade of concern.
Jonah looked over to her, and said in a deep, melancholy voice:
"Don't you see it's over? Reginald might be infected, and if that's the case, then we are all infected... It's all over."
Mae ran to Jonah and pushed him away from the bridge, but Jonah tried pushing her out of the way as he continued to make his way towards the bridge once more.
"You're insane if you think you're going to blow up Tobey and Irene!"
That stopped Jonah, as he thought of other life on board. But what was the point? They were probably dead, rotting and dismembered thanks to the hand of that monster that probably lurks the corridors, waiting for them to leave.
Then there were the wheels.
"Mae, do you remember when the instructor said these mini ships can be destroyed with a switch of a button?"
"Yes, of course I would pay attention to that."
Jonah nodded and poked at the wheel. "Did he also say it was possible to detach from the other ships?"
"No, I don't think so."
Jonah nodded slower this time.
"Who was our instructor?"
Mae shrugged.
"Yeah, me too. I think the pod might have made that part fuzzy."
"Alexi... and I think Tobey?" A random person blotted out.
"How do you know that?"
"They helped build the ship. At least that's what I remember." Another said.
Jonah was speechless for a second. "Where were you guys a few days ago?"
The mass shrugged, and Jonah got away from the board.
"If they built the ship, why would they put something in here to blow it up?"
No one.
"Did they know this was going to happen?"
Not a single soul.
"Wait a minute..."
Jonah looked at the wheel, and tilted the wheel just enough that he felt the entire ship angle itself in that direction.
"This ship was meant to do more than follow the Mother Ship and destroy itself."
Alexi unlocked the door to his side of the ship, and as he walked through the corridor to the Mother Ship, the mass of people waited by the other side. Alexi stared at them and pointed at them, a hand covered in a massive black glove.
"Lock yourself in the bridge, I can hear it move around."
Just like a snap of the fingers, everyone backed away and the door shut. Alexi, with big leather boots, stomped down the corridor to the bridge, and was not surprised as Irene sat with Tobey, a tear strolling down her cheek as she sat with him.
"Please Captain Alexi, can you get me the medical bag from the Nurse's Office?"
"Isn't it infected?"
