~NARRATOR POV~
"So class. I want you all to look directly at your partner....never look away, and tell each of you something you don't want anyone else to know, or something they would never know about you if you didn't tell them" Mr. Way explained. Then he made his way back over, sitting across from Frankie.
He looked directly into her light greenish/blue eyes with his dark ones. She did the same, at a loss for words. He motioned for her to begin, snapping her out of her thoughts. "Ummmm." She looked down absent-mindedly. Mr. Way smiled and he leaned across the table they were sitting at, lifting her chin.
"Don't look away" He whispered, sending a deep red blush onto her pale cheeks.
She gulped and nodded, she locked her eyes with his. Determined not to look away. "I-I.....When I was young my parents died. Then I moved with my aunt, I figured out 5 years later I had cancer, but I couldn't get treated because of my aunts issues. So I got moved to Jersey. Live with my Gram down the street, go to a stupid therapy group, come here now." She manged to say that all without ever breaking his gaze.
He cracked a smile. "You don't want anyone to know that?" He asked. "Why not?"
"Well I don't want people to pay attention to me because I'm the 'Cancer girl.'"
He laughed "You're so much more than a Cancer girl. I can see that when I look at you." He said in return sending a blush back to her cheeks. He looked from her lips to her eyes and back again. Obviously forgetting all the other people around them, yet they didn't seem to notice.
"Uh I......I forgot. The nurse told me to go down at...." Frankie trailed off, awkwardly looking at the clock. "Now so I.....I better go" She said getting up and leaving. Not even taking a second to get her things together. She left everything there.
~FRANKIE'S POV~
Agh!!! I'm an idiot. Everyone was probably staring at me when I left. Him too! What was he trying to do anyway?!?!?!? He doesn't even know the real me. How can you look at someone with such lust and Ecstasy in your eyes if you know nothing about them.
I mean sure he knows my cancer story. But that's not me, he doesn't know my personality. He doesn't know anything about me.
If he did I guarantee he wouldn't look at me like that.
It makes me wanna scream and cry. I hate people like that. Canced isn't me, I'm me. I'm not cancer! God damn it I'm not some disease and I refuse to be treated like one. I run to the nearest bathroom and quickly run into the biggest stall locking it up.
Since I get wicked claustrophobic. I cry, I let myself sob and totally tear my lungs apart trying to make sure nobody heard me.
Seconds turn into minutes, Minutes turn into hours. 3 to be exact. I know because when I came out everyone was getting their things to go home. Some talking to friends.
I make my way quietly, ignoring everyone. I go into Mr. Way's classroom. He turned around from my desk, he was getting my stuff out for me.
~NARRATOR POV~
He walked over and handed them to her, placing her things in her shaky, boney hands. "Next time, don't leave me so suddenly." He said.
'What?!?!' Frankie thought to herself but she just nodded.
"Wait. M-Mr. Way." She gathered her confidence and stood up straight. "I don't like this. I don't wanna be treated like a disease, I am not cancer. That isn't me. I am a regular person. D-Don't look at me with such......" She tried to find the word.
"Ecstasy?" He said it more as a forward answer than a question as he moved closer to her.
She backed up moren, causing her body to close the door, which caused her to jump a little.
He moved closer "if you're angry, then let me get to know you more. Let me take you somewhere today. Somewhere fun." He smiled. It wasn't even a question, it was another straight forward statement.
She gulped and looked up at him. "I..... ummm. S-sure?" She said hesitantly. She ran a hand through her hair and she slowly backed away. "I-I live in 34 franklin Road." She whispered, as if people could hear her.
He chuckled a bit and nodded. "I'll see you in a bit" He whispered back mockingly, making her purse her lips in question and cock an eyebrow. She then walked off leaving him with a sly smirk.
"Oh how beauty runs in your family." He smiled to himself and sighed. He moved to his desk and took out a picture of another young girl who looked just like Frankie except with long hair.
Who is she?
