The Ambulance, that looked kind of like a big go-cart with flashing lights on it, came a while later and I had to give her to one of the people that rushed out. I looked at her as she was hoisted up on to the gurney. They didn't even lower it, because she was so light. As weird as it sounds, I was kind of jealous of the gurney. I wanted to hold her.

I stared at her as they put her into the back of the truck. I wanted to be with her. I was about to walk over when one of the men asked me, "Do you know her?" I took my eyes away from her and looked at him. "Yeah. She is my girlfriend." My eyes went strait back over to her and he said, "Come with us." There wasn't any point though. I would have come even if they told me I wasn't allowed.

I stepped up into the back and immediately grabbed her hand. Searching her face for any signs of pain or discomfort. I just wanted her to wake up. "Where are we going?" I asked the man that was closest to me. I didn't take my eyes off her.

"We are meeting up with the Ambulance that is waiting outside." So they did just take a big go-cart and put a light on it. I thought. "We will take you and..." he paused. "Cat. Well, Catherine." I said quickly.

"They will take you and Catherine back to the hospital." He said. "Alright. Will she be okay?"

"I can't tell you for sure yet. We need to see what exactly is wrong with her at the hospital. It's hard to tell at this point, but we think it could have just been because of the heat." He said calmly, looking over at her face. I knew I was being unreasonable, but I was jealous again.

"Okay thanks." I said, trying to turn his attention back to me. "I'm Caleb, by the way." It worked. "Nice to meet you Caleb, You can call me Mark." We kept talking and I kept turning around to look at her every few minutes. She looked fine to me. Well, all that really mattered was that her chest was still rising and falling.

We made it to the parking lot and she was moved to the real ambulance. I stood in the back with her. Never taking my eyes off her. I never really paid attention to anything they said or did, and when they asked me questions, they usually had to repeat themselves.

"Did she say she started to feel faint?"

        "What?"

"I said did she say she was feeling faint at all? Did she look pale?"

"Yeah, yeah. She looked a little dazed after walking up the steps." "Did she...?"

"Huh?" "Did she fall off in the middle of the ride? Was someone able to give her CPR?"

"Yeah there was a lifeguard i think." He seemed to be getting a little irritated. "Well was there? Did they administer CPR?"

"Yes. She did." I had a flashback of when I had gotten off of the ride and looked everywhere for her. A buff lifeguard was carrying her out, and I guess he caught my eye because he called a female lifeguard to do the CPR. I probably would have punched him if he did.

I turned my attention back to Cat, still not letting go of her hand. Praying she would get better

We finally got to the hospital and they wheeled Cat through the doors to the ER. It was just like they did it in the movies. I had to let go of her hand and tried to go into the room after her, but the doctor pulled me aside before the doors closed. I took a fleeting glance over his shoulder as she was taken down the hall.

"Yes, sir?" I said, looking at him now that I had seen what room Cat was in. "Does she have any parents we should call?" I thought about it for a second before saying that she had moved out into my house because her parents weren't available at the time. I didn't want to tell him they were abusive. I'd never get to see her again.

"Oh, well do you think we could call yours?" I said, "Yes" and gave them my mothers phone number. He asked me a few more questions relating to Cat and I guess he could see how I was fidgeting because he said, "Alright. You can go back to her now. Your parents are on their way."

I quickly walked down the hall and through the door. The nurse took one look at me and got a chair for me to sit on. She put it near the bed and gestured that I should sit down. I grabbed her hand and just sat like that for a while, staring at her beautiful face. My eyelids started to get heavy and before I knew it, I had fallen asleep.

"Caleb." Someone was poking my arm. "Honey." I was being shaken now. "I'll get up later. I don't have school anymore." I opened my eyes and I was laying with my head on Cat's pillow, still holding her hand. I bolted strait up and looked to see if her chest was still moving.

"She is fine Caleb. Don't worry so much." My mother smiled at me. I hugged her. "Mom. Thanks for coming." She looked concerned and asked me what happened.

I explained how she told me she wasnt feeling good and that she blacked out and fell out of the ride. I left out the part about the lifeguard though. "Oh, That's horrible. The doctor says she should wake up soon." I looked around and didn't see him.

"He had to go to a different room." She smiled at me. "If you keep that worried look on your face your eyebrows are gonna stick like that." I looked back at Cat as my mom told me that she should be awake soon.

I love Cat. I love her so much.
