Jungkook put on his hoodie and a pair of jeans with random sneakers for school, not really caring.
He grabbed a granola bar, not forgetting to look in the mirror at the door, Jin had bought when they first moved in here. He ruffled his hair then walked out the door.
Taehyung was on the porch blowing out smoke, holding the cigarette in between his fingers. Jungkook wanted to gag at the smell.
"I hope you know how dangerous those things are." Jungkook said. Taehyung took one more puff then put the cig out in his ash tray.
He chuckled a bit before his mouth opened to respond back. "Don't you have school?" Taehyung rose an eyebrow at the younger.
Jungkook tsked and walked down the porch stairs. He was just warning him. He remembers how his father was with those shits. Always made Jungkook run to the store to buy like 5 packs at once.
"Kid, want a ride?" Taehyung asked from where he still sat. Jungkook flipped him off still walking, not bothering to look back.
At school he seen his friends standing at their lockers. Yugyeom, Youngjae with his girlfriend Daeun, and Eunwoo.
"Yo, Jeon." Yugyeom called from where he stood. Jungkook looked at his friend, and rolled his eyes.
"Well who pissed in your cereal, this morning?"
Jungkook ignored his friend. A huff escaping his slightly parted lips. He slumped his back on his locker next to Yugyeom.
"S'it nothing. Just wasn't having it today." Yugyeom smirked, Jungkook looked at his friend wondering why.
Yugyeom nudged the older's rib still smirking. "I heard you're brother left for that trip. Any upcoming parties?"
At the word parties, the rest of his friends turned around wondering what they were talking about. You see all of them are suckers for a good party. They used to go out every other weekend to hit some random party up, but recently they haven't because something happened.
"Party?" Daeun asked. Jungkook shook his head.
He got off of from leaning on his locker and waved his finger from side to side. "No party. No," he clarified. Daeun pouting at the false news.
"Besides, I can't really do anything while Joon hyung is gone."
Yugyeom gives him a questioning look to which Jungkook returns his look with a I'll tell you later look.
The bell ends up ringing, the friends going in the direction their classes are in. Jungkook walked with Daeun since they had first period together.
"What's wrong Koo? You seem kind of irritated this morning." Daeun asked, two hands clutching each straps of her backpack.
Her black combat boots, with the oversized t-shirt, and greenish blue ends dyed on her jet black hair really fitting to her character, her short height made it adorable.
Jungkook shook his head, then smiled at the girl. "It's," He looked at the shorter, who wasn't looking at him. "My step-brother y'know Namjoon, is going away on a trip and I'm just going to miss him." He lied, well it wasn't a complete lie.
Daeun pouted. Then stood on her tippy toes and pinched Jungkook's cheeks with her tiny hands. "Aw, don't be sad. Be happy! He'll miss you too, but take some time for yourself."
Jungkook smiled at her words, forgetting he really couldn't take time for himself if he was living with a man he used to steal from his older brother with his cuteness whenever the two elders hung out, who now doesn't feel like the same person to Jungkook.
*** At home Jungkook announced himself as he walked through the front door, forgetting his step-brother and his husband weren't here so it didn't matter.
"Oh, you're home." He head Taehyung say from the kitchen doorway. "Do you have homework?"
Did he just ask about homework? What is he, his father? Jungkook ended up answering anyway, without attitude this time.
"I have a project, thats about it." He told the older. Taehyung nodded his head once.
Taehyung started walking over to Jungkook, and held out his hand when he reached the younger. "Let me see the project."
Jungkook looked at Taehyung's hand then back at his backpack then back at his hand. "Why?"
"I wanna help," he said, "Stop being so hostile." Taehyung narrowed his eyes and jutted his head at the younger.
It took a couple seconds of debating whether or not Jungkook would take the help Taehyung was offering. He did.
Jungkook was definitely not staring. At how Taehyung looked at the moment.
Taehyung read the piece of paper Jungkook handed him, his unoccupied arm arm resting on the backa on the couch. Legs spread wide-
Anyway, Taehyung cleared his throat handing the younger back his paper. "What kind of bullshit is this? Does your teacher not care for you?"
Jungkook snatched the paper before turning away from Taehyung with a scowl. "We got to pick our own prompts." Taehyung dragged out a whistle then chuckled deeply.
"M'sorry, didn't mean to pick on ya." Taehyung teased, leaning back in the chair some more.
Jungkook started gathering up his school supplies that were spread all over the living room floor, "Look, thanks for offering but I'd rather do it myself." He finished with a fake smile.
Taehyung sat up right, fixing his posture then cleared his throat once again. "Y-yeah, uh goodnight?"
"Night." Jungkook walked up the stairs, not once looking back.
So much for trying to bond with the boy, Taehyung thought as he watched the younger walk away.
