There, through the window, seems a picturesque life
Sunlight all around and the peaks of far trees
Now and then rooftops where someone has a home
The skies are as bright as clear water is blue
No dark cloud or the whispering winds of change
My mind is made then; today will be the day
Time is never-ending, as night follows day
There is comfort in the rhythm that brings life
Something stable even in spite of the change
We find the same consolation in the trees
That suckle their strength from the Earth’s soil and blue
Water where their roots grow; safe and sound at home
We should be like nature in our search of home
We hide behind the menial working day
Why not fight for turf ‘til we’re bruised black and blue?
Were we not born like the animals in life?
To reach, stretch, for what we want just like the trees?
If evolution made us weak, then why change?
Transforming the world meant we too sought to change
We tore out the rocks and we built our own home
But still after us will stand the rooted trees
And still the sun will turn from the night to day
Maybe some things are just meant to be in life
Like the sky reflecting the sea, and still blue
Are we the only animals that feel blue?
Or like us did the world develop and change?
There are after all species that mate for life
There are those that work together for a home
But like Rome, you cannot build love in a day
We start slow, setting down roots, as did the trees
Staring from the window at those great strong trees
I think of four things but only one is blue
I think of what it could bring, this borrowed day
It could bring whirlwinds of wonderful new change
Like nature around me, I would build my home
And make something great of this common old life
The trees sway now from the blowing winds of change
Overwhelmed in their eyes, so blue, I am home
Today is the day that I propose new life
