My Name is Benedict Hassiom, but everyone calls me Ben. I started my journey as a sixteen-year-old who was the average height of 5'10 and neither muscular nor fat. An average brown-haired, hazel-eyed guy and this is my story...Haah.Waking up from my sleep, I stare at my ceiling still thinking about how boring life is now due to this virus that's going around. 'Oh well, schools are closing tomorrow anyway' I thought to myself as I was getting my academic uniform on... this was gonna feel like a long week. His girlfriend had left him two weeks ago and he was still feeling heavy-hearted over her. 'I guess we just wanted different lives' I mused, she didn't want any serious commitments and always reiterated that she never wanted to get married. Whilst, I was on the other side of that spectrum and wanted her to be mine forever... 'I guess I just got too attached'. Slapping my cheeks to get out of this stupor, I got downstairs and saw that my parents had left me a note saying that they had gone out to buy things. Weird, "this is rare" I muttered to myself. They seldom go out this early and especially not without telling me before it. Well, I decided to stop overthinking it and after having my breakfast, I grabbed my bag and started towards the school.

The day passed by, as usual, nothing special and nothing horrible occurred. My ex's friends still gave me death stares and every time I looked at her in class my heart hurt, seeing that I was completely invisible to her now, just another classmate. I kept my head down in that class and never looked at her again, Joana I'm always going to remember you...The schoolday ended normally though, here I was again doing this repetitive thing called life. Getting my bag, I left the school and went to the local bakery on the way home to buy some bread. I do this at least once a week, there is a homeless shelter nearby and I decided to visit it today. As I walked in I noticed a black-hooded figure, was sat in the corner of the shelter, from the corner of my eyes. This man looked thin and parched so I decided to go over to him first. I approached him unbiasedly, everyone in here has their history and I'm not one to judge their life story. Consequently, I decided to hand him the bread and a glass of water from the shelter's kitchens first and let him eat it first. Waiting patiently, I kept thinking of how mysterious this man seemed but also there seemed to be some sort of affinity between us. Crunch. He had his last bite with a swig of water then wiped away the crumbs from his mouth and smiled gently.

The hooded-man whispered,"Thank you kid, that's just what I needed. I don't have much but here take this, its a simple charm" The hooded-man whispered whilst handing me a circular jade pendant with weird inscriptions on it" When you really really wish for something to happen, it WILL become your reality". I looked down at the pendant and then the man suddenly got up and left quite hurriedly just like that. "That was weird..." I sighed,"Ah don't worry about him, he only came in here a few hours ago son. I think he's one of those wanderers but oh well to each their own, ben" stuttered an elderly man in the shelter. This was someone who he had known for a long time. It was Grandpa Yap. He was put out on the streets at the age of 25 after not being able to keep up with student debt that accumulated on top of his rent. He had been living on the streets since then... he was almost seventy. I had a little conversation with him before going round the shelter to finish handing out my bread and glasses of water. After that, I grabbed my bags with the pendant still hanging around my neck, it was oddly comfortable around my neck and kept my chest warm, and walked home.

That night was one that I would never forget.

My parents had come back while I was at school but had gone out again whilst I was at the Shelter. That night, I decided to reward myself with a pot noodle due to my hard work over these last five years coming to nothing as the exams had been cancelled due to the Corona Virus. My GCSE's (General Certificate of Secondary Education, in the UK) are now going to be based on my teacher's feedback and so I'm not worrying as I put in the required effort but not much more. Slurp. 'That pot noodle was nice'- burp. Later that night, I decided to watch the final episode of Ben 10 Omniverse and this kept me up thinking about how I'd be happy to go to that world or even to just have an Omnitrix. What I didn't notice that night was that the jade pendant glowed softly before going dim again, yawn. I fell asleep soon after...Haaah. Waking up, it was the same process again. I stared at my ceiling still lying there. Truly, I was hoping to wake up in the body of Ben Tennyson or waking up with an Omnitrix on my wrist but it seemed that this pendant was a fake. Gripping at my neck... 'Wait, it's not here?! where's the pendant?' After ages of searching I gave up it must have been lost behind the sofa or something, It was already time for school again. Slipping my shoes on and grabbing my bag, I opened the door and a glaring white light shone into my eyes. Raising my hand to shield my eyes, I admit, 'It's a beautiful day'. I step out and take a few turns and come to the main road that I have to walk on to get to my school...What the hell has happened to all the shops?! I start running past all of them seeing shopping chains that I had never heard of before. Alda... Saintsburys and Norrison's and one shop that was supposed to be on the corner wasn't there. What was happening?

Am I Going Mad?

What the F*** is going on in my life?!
