Struggling with my keys and bags I got the door to unlock. Opening the door to my small apartment I walked straight into the kitchen. Placing down the two bags filled with groceries on the kitchen table.

"Cat! I'm home." I called into the apartment. Not even a minute later Cat purred against my leg. Leaning down I caressed his soft fur. "There you are handsome. Did you miss me?"

I began to take out all the items I bought putting them away in the fridge and pantry. Given the circumstance with the health of the public, I had been advised to stay in doors for the remainder of the month. Taking out some lettuce, strawberries, and oranges, I decided to make myself a quick salad. Humming along to Billie Eilish's  "Everything I Wanted" I began to prepare my salad as Cat watched, perched on the other side of the counter.

My phone rang and I took it out of my pocket. Looking at the name across the screen the biggest smile spread across mt smile.

"Babe, to what do I owe this call?" I teased.

"JOSEPHINE!" the voice screeched through the phone. I laughed out loud as I put the phone on speaker and placed it on the counter.

"What?" I asked innocently. Smirking, waiting for her response.

"Don't you "what" me?! Tell me all the details! Was it big? Was it curved? Did it hurt to walk today? SPILL BITCH!" Khadijha asked impatiently.

"Oh my god, nothing happened!" I whispered. Closing my eyes, I remembered how Aaron had pushed my fallen hair behind my ear last night.

I looked at him straight in the eyes as his lips neared mine. His minty breath caressed my lips. God, you are beautiful. His soft lips touched mine and I heard him hum in appreciation. I opened my eyes and watched as his brows creased in the middle. I softly pushed him, breaking away from the kiss. He pressed his forehead against mine. His tall frame engulfing me, hiding me from the people walking by. I can't, I whispered. I heard him swallow and he exhaled softly. I know but it was worth the try. He pulled back and took my face in his hands. He smiled down at me as his thumb caressed my bottom lip. He's a lucky guy. My breath caught in my throat as I tried to say something, anything. Don't, I know. Tears built up in my eyes and I closed my eyes. How? His fingers continued to touch my skin. You're here but your heart is not and that is okay. This is not our story. I breathed and let my tears run. I felt his soft lips on my forehead. Don't cry my little dove. I opened my eyes to see his lips lift on one side. I sniffled and he pulled me into a tight hug. Come on, let me get you home beautiful. I smiled at him and he took my hand. We walked towards his car as small raindrops fell over my face. Opening the door, he smiled at me as I slid into his warm car. We drove in silence until we reached my apartment.

"Jo? Are you still there?" K's voice came through the phone bringing me back to the present. Feeling tears in my eyes, I rubbed them away.

"Yes, I'm here! And yes, nothing happened between Aaron and I," I reiterated, sighing.

"What was that sigh about then?" she asked softly. "Jo, what happened last night?

"We ended whatever we had going on."

"You mean the three-week relationship?" K laughed through the phone.

"Shut it! He was really sweet and nice. But yes, that's over and I'm now making a salad. Anyways, how have you been love?" I asked cheerfully trying to get rid of any bad memories.

"Changing the subject, I see. I will get the tea out of you one way or another. But, you know, stuck in my apartment. I am so sad. I wish I got stuck with you, but my bestie is here and now she is stuck with me," she laughed as I heard June laughing in the background.
