A cold night with a full moon surrounded by stars. A silent forest in Munnar with only sounds of nature. A homestay with only five visitors within a silent forest. A perfect setting for murder... isn't it?
A black SUV drove on the flat tar road of the hilly region. It was close to eleven o'clock at night. Not a single human would be awake at this part of the world at this time.

The SUV drove towards the homestay and made a full stop. A tall young man, of about thirty years got off the vehicle. His physical features couldn't be seen due to the darkness. The homestay was somewhere deep in the forest. It was not visible from the road due to the tall trees and bushes within the forests.

The man walked through the forest pushing away the unwanted sticks and leaves hitting his face. The smell of rain wafted through the air even though it hadn't rained for like a week. But the man had no interest in the beauty of the surrounding nature whatsoever.
The muddy path to the homestay from the road was about quarter a mile. The man stared at the entrance. It seemed very simple with just a small gate at the front. Nothing else could be really seen at the time. Anyone could simply jump over, and that's exactly what the man did.
He landed over the gate on some dead leaves making a crunching sound. He hoped that didn't cause any attention. The mysterious man tip-toed all the way to the main office. The entire place was absolutely pin drop silent. The man could even hear one of the visitors snoring in their rooms. But he had no time for hearing snores.
The main office had a large wooden door. The color was not recognizable in the darkness. The young man turned the silver knob towards the right and the door opened.

There was a sudden rush of wind as soon as he opened the door. The window seemed to be open too. One person seemed to be sleeping inside with the fan turned on at high speed. The room was filled with darkness without any source of light. The man sensed the bed to be near the window and walked towards the same.
The head of the bed seemed to be facing the window. The closets were right next to the door. The man slowly came towards the figure lying on the bed.

The man did not waste anymore time. He was sure that the figure in front of him was the one he came for. He took out a dark object from his right pocket turning out to be a pistol. Having a silencer installed, the man seemed comfortable in using it at this time.
He placed his two fingers near the trigger. He had no idea how the figure was positioned. The young man held the trigger tightly and pulled it three times. A soft male moan was heard from the lying figure, now more likely the dead figure.

The young man had done his job. Now he had to get out of there as soon as possible before anyone noticed. He rushed back outside making no changes in the room. By the time the young man reached his SUV, it became cloudy and started to pour.
He knew that the dead body would be found tomorrow morning by the people in the homestay. But he also knew that he was in the safe zone and nothing would come in his way.

                                                            ————————

It had been fifteen minutes since the rain started. In fact, it was much heavier than before. The well-known novelist of Cochin, Viraat Nair was driving in the Munnar region of Kerala. After publishing his best-selling novel, the young novelist felt it was the best time time to finish off pending work at this part of the state.
Viraat was never fond of driving in such weather. But he always enjoyed driving during gloomy and cold nights. It was like a mix of both at this time.

It seemed a pretty easy drive for Viraat in this region with barely one or two vehicles on the road. What Viraat didn't expect was an accident in such a place at this time.
The wavy road seemed going forever making it interesting to drive on.

Unexpectedly, a black SUV, being driven at a high speed suddenly came in front of Viraat's vehicle. The driver must've got confused with the right direction. Knowing that, the black SUV made a sharp right turn, unfortunately hitting the right head lights of Viraat's big vehicle.
The black SUV got away leaving Viraat's vehicle to flip over and skid through the wet road. Eventually, Viraat jumped outside skidding roughly and scraping his skin. It felt like his skin was getting peeled with a  grater.

He held a tall tree with his strong arms causing his head to bang into it. Little did the novelist know about how much that would pain. Viraat gave a soft cry. He felt he was going into an unconscious state. Viraat had to find shelter in such a weather.
'RiverGrove Homestay- 400 meters'. Viraat read with his blurred vision. He got up from his laying position and started to walk into the forest. He was trembling and felt that he would fall in any moment. The rain was still pouring heavily.

His arms had deep cuts and wounds caused due to the skid. He had no idea where his vehicle was. Must've turned into pieces of metal by this time. Viraat walked through the leaves and bushes believing this was a dream. He felt something wet dripping near his forehead. It seemed to be thick and mixed with the rain water. He touched it and it gave a red color to his finger.
Things were barely visible in this darkness for Viraat, even with a full moon. The novelist continued to walk until he noticed a simple small gate.
With a half unconscious mind, Viraat opened the gate making a screeching noise.
He saw a row of doors guessing it was the rooms for the visitors. Viraat looked around with the help of the dim light. Suddenly, he noticed a tall dark figure running from a separate building and jumping over the back gate of the homestay. Ignoring the mysterious figure, the half unconscious Viraat trembled towards the same building guessing it to be the main office.
The tall door to the building seemed to be unlocked. On opening it, Viraat entered a dark room. He sensed a man sleeping near the window.
"Sir." Viraat spoke with a shaky voice. He himself was surprised to know that he could speak at this state. "Sir, I've met with an a-accident. I'm badly injured. My v-vehicle is gone. Please sir, I need help." He moved towards the bed near the window as he almost tripped again.

There was absolutely no response from the sleeping figure. The only thing Viraat could hear was his own breath, the heavy rain and the high speed fan in the room. "Sir, p-please wake up. I need help." Viraat shook the figure. He noticed a lamp to his right and turned it on. "S-sir-" Viraat stopped as he noticed three gun shots on the body of the figure. One through the heart, one in the stomach and one through the chest. It was now that it struck him that he was talking to a dead body!
