We continued reading in silent for a few more minutes, until I finish the chapter, then he says,
"Hey, wanna walk to the park?" I close the book and look over at him,
"Why?"
"Cause it's a nice day, and I wanna sit in the grass?" He shrugs,
"Oh, alright, fine. Let me find some books." I say, as I take my bag off the back of my chair and put my book in side.
"But you already have one." He wrinkles his eyebrows, I laugh,
"I only come here every twoish weeks, and I would like to read other things." I say chuckling. He shrugs,
"I'm no good with books."
"It's cause you don't read, Kami." I say as I make my way down a different row of shelves, he follows but I slip into the next one over and find a book I've wanted to read for a while and grab it, then keep moving from shelve to shelve.
"Shinsou? Where'd you go?" I hear he complain a couple shelves down. I chuckle, and grab another book. I hear him say,
"Shinsou!! Let's go!"
I'm reading the start of another book when Kaminari finds me, "Took you long enough." I tease. He pouts, and pulls the book down to look at me.
"I thought we were going to the park?" He pouts. I chuckle and nod, closing my book. I put it in my bag, sling it over my shoulder, and we walk back to the table I was at before.
"Aren't we gonna go to the park?" He asks,
"Kaminari Denki, I need more books."
"You have like 17! Why do you need more?"
"I have three, and that will not last me two weeks." I say, walking over to a different shelve. He sighs and follows me.
~~~~~~~~On the way to the park~~~~~~~~
We're halfway across the bridge between the park and the library, when Denki's phone starts ringing,
"Hello?" He says, picking up. The other person says something I can't hear, then he takes the phone away from his ear, turns it off and slips it into his pocket. "Hey, sorry 'bout that. What were we talking about?"
"You were asking why I liked books." I say, looking down at the one open in my hand.
"Right! So why do you like them so much?" He asks, jogging back up beside me.
"There interesting, keep you're attention. Reading is a good pass time, and you don't really get bored, unless it's a bad book. It's an escape, a way of jumping into another world with out ruining you're eyes by staring at a screen to watch something that does the same thing. They expand you're imagination, making it easier for you to make you're own art, whether that be drawing, writing, painting, singing, and all sorts of other things." I say, closing my book and looking over the railing at the river.
"Wow." He says, watching me stop and turn to completely face the river, resting my arms on the railing and leaning on my elbows. He walks up to lean on the rail, putting his hands in his pockets, not taking his eyes off of me. "I don't think you've said that much to me, ever."
"That's because you never asked the right things." I say with a shrug. I look over at him, and he's totally at peace, looking up at the sky. I feel my face warming again and drag my gaze away, even though I want to look at him forever. It's official, I've fallen for the local dumb ass. "We should head back to the dorms, it's getting late and there's school tomorrow. Rain check on the park?"
"Sure." He says, pulling himself off the bars. I straighten my posture and we walk back across the bridge in silents, but not awkward silents, a comfortable, kind of warm silents.
A.N. So, I know this is super late, but I hope you like it! 2020 was a lot for me, and my metal health took a beating, so please don't be mad😅
