(A/N) My first chapter that isn't skipped a day forwards cause I feel like it's too soon for Halloween to have gotten here. I also might have screwed up the timeline and days but uh... If Halloween comes sooner than time works lol please excuse that. Also, Elijah is pretty cool, but won't be a love interest. Don't worry.
"Elijah! Hi!" You hold out a hand, and he takes it, shaking it firmly. He's carrying a black satchel, slung over one shoulder and you could tell it was stuffed full, and heavy. "Please, come in, take a seat."
"Thanks, (Y/N)," Elijah smiled as he passed, "Again, I'm sorry to bother you, It's just been so long since there's been someone living in this place." he craned his neck to look around as he spoke, taking everything in, then letting out a shiver. "So, you live here?" he asked, then thought better, "Of course you do, that was stupid." he laughed at himself, plopping down on the sofa with his bag at his side. You sat on the chair beside him, shifting so you were faced towards him. He had taken out a notepad and a pencil, a bottle of water rested against his chest."So, explain to me again what it is you want to know?" you ask with a slight tilt to your head. Elijah smiled widely, seeming to just realize he was actually interviewing a Myers house tenant!
"Anything unexplainable! Objects being moved, noises, maybe even a sighting! I'd like to be told about anything you could blame on Michael Myers, and anything that could confirm he's still alive." He explained, shifting deeper into the couch as he spoke. Michael was definitely still alive, but would you want to tell Elijah that? Michael might get mad. You had to be careful what you said.
"Well, there... honestly hasn't been much." you wanted the town to know Michael was still alive, for their own safety. You'd need to bend the truth a lot. "I've heard creaking here and there, and sometimes late at night I'll see a flash of white outside my window, but I honestly think I'm just being superstitious." you were definitely not superstitious. Elijah was absorbing the information like a sponge, scribbling frantically as you spoke in order to keep up. You tapped your chin for a moment, acting as if there was little more to tell."Oh, and I've found a dead animal or two on my porch, but again, that could just be coincidence." Elijah snapped his head up as you finished, eyes beaming and flooded with curiosity.
"Really? Coincidence? With all the stories, and sightings and mysterious murders, how can you turn a blind eye to this all?" he asked, turning back to his notepad.
"Well, there's bad people in the world. In a town where everyone thinks every murder is because of an urban legend, it would be easy to kill without thinking you'll be caught." the words flowed out smoothly, and you hoped that somewhere Michael was watching, listening as you covered for him. You hoped he showed you some sort of gratitude for covering his tracks. "Of course, it's a possibility, but it isn't something I personally believe." Elijah nodded, finishing his notes with a flourished period after his last sentence, dropping his pencil and shaking his hand, as if it ached. Soon after, he flipped the page to a fresh one."Interesting. So, you obviously know tomorrow is Halloween, the Boogeyman's night of rampage. Are you in any way scared?" Elijah sat forwards now, abandoning his previous comfort nestled in the couch cushions, and ran a quick hand through his hair. You shrug, hesitating before speaking,
"A little, if I'm honest. As I said, I don't think Myers is still running around, but I've always been a nervous person. I'm afraid the people around me might be getting through my head," you pause to chuckle, "I'll definitely keep my guard up, at least." Elijah was muttering quietly to himself as he went over his notes once more, checking his facts so far.
"Okay... just one more question for now. Are you familiar with the book 'The Devil's Eyes' by Dr. Samuel Loomis?" The simple act of hearing the name of that book sent a child down both yours and Elijah's spines, as if the name was cursed, and would make Michael appear out of thin air."I'm familiar with the name, but I've never read it. My friend has, though. Wanting to get to know the 'lore of my town'." you waved your hands dramatically as you spoke, emphasizing your words. The friend was Katie, and she'd only read it because she was scared for you. You were honestly surprised she had yet to ask if you'd seen or heard the Boogeyman in your home or at work or anything or the sort. Elijah simply nodded, some odd look appearing in his eyes. He reread his notes again, staring intently and banishing any traces of... sadness? The look vanished before you could see his eyes and expression properly. He suddenly huffed, his happy expression taking over once more, and flipped his notebook closed.
"That... should be all!" he beamed, "But, I'd love to talk to you again after Halloween." a devilish smirk spread across his face. "If you make it till then." his voice took on a silly undertone, wavering as he spoke to mimic a ghost or something. You smiled in return, not devilish but amused, and rolled your eyes.
