the land of the guardians' chapter 1

"ooh let's try this one," said Ari. She's my best friend, she has been since kindergarten and she has bright blonde hair. Kind of dark at the top and has fuchsia glasses with flowers on the sides.

My name is Elizabeth, Eliza for short and right now we're messing with "spells" we found a book in my basement.

"Yeah!" I respond

"it says it will transfer you to a magical unicorn land, heh."

We set the spell book out in front of us and pronounced the spell.

"zaatar!" it sounds so funny. But then suddenly the air started swirling around us and we were falling through a green and black hole. It felt like I couldn't breathe, my stomach twisted into a knot and my throat clogged with a rock. I wanted it to stop. I was panicked, scared, and confused. Then I slowed down and softly landed on the ground.

I was safe. But I didn't think it would last for long.

"Ari?" I said because I felt something touch my arm, I opened my eyes and looked up. The sun was high in the sky now, but I did not know this place, the grass was too well taken care of to be a yard and far too big.

I looked up and saw a white glistening figure. I had to squint to see it properly. But when my vision was clear enough, I saw a unicorn. A UNICORN! A REAL-LIFE UNICORN!

"I am a guardian," says the unicorn. A TALKING UNICORN!

"if you look to the left..." I spaced out. Where was I? It was beautiful and there were UNICORNS. Did I go through a portal? No, definitely not. Perhaps I was dreaming. I pinched myself to see.

"ow!" that hurt.

I look to my left and see and sign it says "this way to the fortune teller who can see into the future" I imagined the fortune teller being a unicorn with red lipstick and a bandana with a globe in front of her. I made a quiet laugh. the next thing I knew I was following the path looking for Ari.

It felt like I was walking forever when I saw a tent. I walked in and said....

"Hello?" I looked around and then there was a flash and a cloak was overlooking a globe with a storm in it. "Hello?" I repeated.

"What do you wish to know." called out a mysterious voice.

"Um... do you know where my friend is?"

"Who is this... friend?"

"Err, her name is Ariadne I call her Ari."

"Ariadne, hmm, last initial M?"

"Uh, yes."

"I know of her."

"Where is she?"

"here."

"What?"

The hood was pulled off to reveal...

"Ari!"

We both burst out laughing so hard we fell on the floor.

"How did you get here?" I asked "you know, before me"

"well um, I fell through this green and like a black hole." Ari said, "and when I woke up, I was in front of a tent." she continued. "I figured maybe you went inside so I entered, and I saw a cloak and a crystal ball. Knowing you, you were probably on your way to get me. So, I waited to pull a prank on you."

I am disappointed in Ari right now. All she did was wait to prank me. Not even think of one way to get out of here. how we're stuck here (probably) or, how to find me. I would tell her all this, but I don't want to start a fight. After all, we do have to work together.

We were walking for at least ten minutes when we came across a giant field with no road. It was almost dark, and we had made no progress. But I saw a little cottage about fifty feet away. So, I pulled Ari with me and she took the hint and followed me.

When we got to the cottage, we both said at the same time,

"I vote you knock" "jinx blackout" "I said it first!" "no, I did!"

I looked at her and said "rock, paper, scissors?"

"Sure," she responded.

I lost every round so; I went up and knocked.

A woman who looked just like one of my moms answered the door

"mom?"

"huh?"

"never mind."

"what do you want?" the woman looked very tired and I hoped that I hadn't awoken her.

"so um, we just got here and um we have no place to-"

"you can sleep on the couch; I'm going back to bed."

"well, that was easy."

"yeah" Ari sounded like she wasn't paying attention and then I saw what caught her eye. The couch that she was allowing us to sleep on was so comfy looking I felt like I could sleep on it for a thousand years.

"come on let's go inside," Ari said as she pulled me into the house.

i decide it had been a long day so as soon as my head hit the pillow I was fast asleep.
