6) Something's Wrong

No one's POV
Fortunately a few days later Zayn was completely healthy again and so was Louis. Everyone in the house is fine except Harry. The poor little boy has been sick for a week now and his parents are getting very worried about their son.

"Li I think there's something wrong with Harry. He's not getting any better. I'm worried.", Niall said nervously taking the temperature of the little boy.
"What does it say?", Liam asked as the thermometer beeper.
"39.5°C, that's not good Liam. I think we should take him to the hospital.", Niall answered and Liam agreed.

They took the small boy into their car and made their way to the hospital. As they arrived they went to the paediatric station where the specialists for children's medicine work.

"How are you feeling but?", Liam asked Harry but he just looked down.
"Not good daddy.", Harry mumbled.
"What does hurt the most?", Liam asked while rubbing his back.
"Tummy and head.", the boy answered in pain. Liam nodded. He was thinking what could be wrong with his son as it doesn't seem like a flu anymore.

After some minutes of waiting they finally got called by a doctor.
"Hello, my name is doctor Stormer. How can I help you?", the doctor introduced himself.

"We're here because of our son Harry. He has been sick for a week and we're getting quite nervous as he won't get better. The last time we checked his temperature it was at 39.5°C and he complains about abdominal pain and headaches. It seems like there's something wrong with his gastrointestinal tract.", Liam explained. The doctor nodded and started to examine Harry.

"Well we need to run some blood tests as I can't exactly say what's wrong. He has to stay in the hospital because we got to keep an eye on him. His fever is very high and his pain seems to be intense. Fortunately it isn't appendicitis but I can't say that it's nothing life-threatening because is symptoms are strong. We're also going to do a MRI as I couldn't see anything wrong in the ultrasound scan.", the doctor spoke after finishing the physical exam on Harry.

After taking Harry's blood the nurse took Harry and his parents to the radiology station to do the MRI.
As soon as they finished the nurse brought them to Harry's new room. Now they're waiting for the results.

"Liam do you think Harry will be fine? It sounds quite serious.", Niall talked quietly, not wanting to wake Harry up who just fell asleep.
"Don't worry love. He'll be okay. It's my fault I should have taken him to the hospital much earlier but I thought he catched the flu. I'm a doctor I should have known that it's more serious.", Liam started to breakdown.

"No darling it's not your fault. It's totally understandable that you thought it was the flu because Zayn and Louis had it. I thought the same and you aren't a bad father or doctor just because you didn't think of it first.", Niall hugged his husband.

Finally the doctor came in with some of the results.
"In the blood tests you can see there's an inflammatory process going on in his body. Additionally the number of calcium is high. In the MRI scan we could see an inflammation of the pancreas which means Harry has probably pancreatitis.
We're going to treat him now with special medications and check on him regularly as it could get very dangerous. We still have to find out why his calcium level is too high. It could be genetic or caused by hypothyroidism but it's treatable.", he explained.

Niall and Liam thanked the doctor. Niall decided to stay at the hospital with Harry while Liam went home to take care of Louis and Zayn.

"Daddy where's Papa and Harry?", Louis asked confused.
"He has to stay at the hospital but don't worry. He'll be fine. Papa is there as well to take care of him.", Liam answered.

Louis nodded looking quite sad but his dad gave him a big hug to comfort him.

"What's wrong with Harry?", Zayn asked while going down the stairs. He probably heard his dad and Louis talking.
"His pancreas is inflamed and he could have hypothyroidism or a genetic disorder but we don't know yet. Hypothyroidism is when the thyroid isn't producing enough hormones.", Liam stated.

"Is it dangerous dad?", Zayn asked worried about his little brother.
"It can get dangerous but he's now in a good care and everything will be okay.", Liam replied.

After dinner Liam brought Louis to bed and read a little goodnight story to him. Zayn went back in his room to finsh some school work.
As Louis fell asleep Liam went to his and Niall's room. He called Niall again to make sure Harry is fine and nothing worse happened. Then he went to bed and fell asleep after the exhausting day.

I'm very sorry for not updating in ages. It's been a really long time I know and I hope you're still interested in the story. Since we're all in quarantine here because of Corona I have time to write again.
Also "Heartbreak Weather" is so amazing. I just love the whole album. I'm so proud of all the boys. Go and stream Fine Line, Walls LP1, Icarus Falls and Heartbreak Weather!
