The boy standing in front of Alfred was taller than him. His hair was an ashy blonde, with a scarf around his neck, despite it still being summer. Oh yeah, and he was hot as hell. Alfred swallowed and knew he was in huge fucking trouble. He had some sort of darkish aura around him, which should have (but didn't) turn him off.
"Hello, we're your new neighbors." Francis said, smiling, completely oblivious to his son's internal dilemma. Alfred managed to nod. He couldn't mess this up. Not now, not while it's so soon. He had to push aside his feelings for the random boy he just met and didn't even know the name of, and act like Matthew. Be Matthew.
"Hey, I'm Matthew." Nailed it. Francis smiled at his son, slightly.
"I am Ivan. My sisters and I moved here from Russia." He said, damn it his accent was fucking sexy as hell too. Alfred merely kept a smile on his face, hoping his blush didn't show through.
"May we meet your sisters? It'd be great to become friends with our neighbors!" Francis asked, innocently. Ivan nodded.
"Da." He said before turning around and cupping his hands around his mouth. "Катюша, Наталья! Соседи здесь! Они хотят сказать привет!" (Katyusha, Natalya! The neighbors are here! They want to say hi!) A few moments later an older girl, who seemed to be in her early twenties. She smiled at the pair.
"Oh hello! I hope we can be good friends, we know very little about Canada." She said sheepishly. "I'm Katyusha but please call me Kat." Behind Ivan came a little girl who couldn't be more than six. She hugged her brother's leg and her eyes shifted from them to the floor.
"I'm Natalia." She said, quietly. Alfred smiled and bent down to her.
"I'm Matthew." He said, almost saying the wrong name at first.
"Hi." She mumbled.
"Do you like flowers?" He asked. Natalia looked up at her brother for a moment but nodded. Alfred pulled out a purple flower he had found while walking over and put it in her hair. Her eyes widened and she slowly started to smile. It was a small one but there nonetheless. She giggled quietly and ran into the house. Alfred stood up to realize that Ivan had been watching him the whole time. Kat and Francis had started a conversation about food.
"That was nice of you." Ivan said, with an unreadable expression. Alfred really hoped his blush wasn't showing.
"Oh, well I saw she was shy and I didn't want to scare her. Plus I have no need for the flower." Alfred tried, pushing up his glasses. Ivan's lips held a hint of smile which honestly just made Alfred start rambling more. "I used to be very shy when I was her age, I still kinda am." At this point either shoot him or he was going to continue to spit off random facts about Matthew he remembered.
"You don't seem all that shy." Ivan replied. Alfred blushed now, mainly out of embarrassment.
"S-sorry." He stuttered. Jeez he hadn't acted like this since he had a crush on that Davy kid in sixth grade.
"No, nothing to be ashamed of." Ivan said, smiling again.
"Do you wanna, maybe, be friends?" Alfred asked. "You're always welcome at my house. I know what it's like being in an unfamiliar area." Ivan nodded.
"I would like that." He replied, honestly. Alfred smiled.
"Good, I would too."
"No, I insist. You guys should join us for dinner." Francis had said. Ivan and Alfred looked at their respective caretakers then at each other and smiled.
"Fine." Kat said, feigning reluctance. "Would tomorrow work for you? We would like to finish unpacking today."
"Tomorrow would work great, my dear." Francis replied with his signature smile. Alfred smiled with his eyes closed as he shook his head at his dad.
