ally woke up the next morning with swollen eyes and dried tear trails upon her cheeks. she had cried herself to sleep while rachel stayed in her room and comforted her until she fell asleep. rachel had suggested go get some fresh air, so ally offered to go pick up rachel's paycheck from the diner.

while she was walking down the road, ally was trying to untangle her earbuds in hopes that post malone's voice would soothe her enough to get through the day. however, a car pulled up to ally and she had to silence her gasp of shock when she noticed stan driving it, smiling slightly. stan stopped the car next to ally and rolled down the window.

"hey, ally." stanley greeted her, pushing his curls away from his forehead.

"hey, stan." ally sighed, not making direct eye contact.

"need a ride?" he asked.

"um... ok, yeah, sure. thanks. can you drive me to the diner? my mom needs me to pick up her paycheck." ally couldn't say no to him. he was just so innocent looking, he didn't even know that he broke her heart into a million tiny pieces.

"yeah, yeah. of course."

an awkward silence settled itself into the car and ally couldn't take it any longer.

"so," she huffed. "you & syd have fun last night?"

"w-what?" stan slightly choked on his breath and looked towards ally for a moment.

"i heard you guys.. before i left. figured y'all didn't want me there anymore." ally laughed, humorlessly.

"oh—no that's not it at all, ally. we just— we were high, you know, and we weren't thinking. i think sydney doesn't even think it meant anything." stanley breathed out.
