It was peacefully quiet in the room, with only a few soft clinks of metal disturbing the silence. Cahaya, wearing his usual white gloves, was fiddling with the yellow metal sphere that his brothers had brought him earlier. He'd thought to ask where they found it, but one look at their "innocent" faces, he kept his mouth shut and took the robot without question.

Cahaya had been fiddling with the robot for hours now, only stopping for meals and bathroom breaks. Right now, he was turning the yellow sphere over, trying to find where else he could fix it.

"Hey, Cahaya," the robot said, looking up to the person fixing him. "I'm glad that you guys found me and that you're spending your time fixing me, but..."

"Hmm?" Cahaya hummed distractedly. "What's wrong, Mr. Robot? Am I doing it wrong?"

"No, it's not that-"

"I may not usually be into robotics, but I can learn pretty fast, you know?" Cahaya cut him off with a smug smirk.

If a robot could roll its eyes, it would've done so. "Actually, I was wondering, it's summer right? Shouldn't you be hanging out with friends?"

Cahaya's smirk fell and he went quiet. His eyes fell on the robot in his hands. When he spoke, his voice was quiet.

"Most of my classmates think I'm too much of a know-it-all and arrogant. You see, most people would usually admire someone intelligent."

Cahaya looked away from the robot and stared into the blank wall in front of him. "However, that's not really the case. Being the kind of person that I am... it's hard to fit in. So I don't have friends."

The robot was quiet and Cahaya forced a smile on his face. "On the bright side, at least I have a lot of time to fix you up-"

"I'll be your friend."

Cahaya was startled as the robot reached up to pat his gloved hand that was resting on the top of the yellow sphere.

"Let's be friends, Cahaya!" the robot said cheerfully, albeit weakly.

Cahaya felt a lump forming in his throat, and tears pickled in his eyes. Here was a robot, a complete stranger, offering to be his friend. For the first time, he'll finally have a friend.

"Okay, I'll be your friend."

I feel like my writing's getting more and more trash as time passes by. Maybe it's because I'm just forcing myself to write out of boredom. Or maybe it's because I'm usually distracted while I'm writing. Or maybe it's something else.

Anyway, I hope you like this chapter. Again, the plot isn't mine.
