A Promise
One shot story...
After how many years of studying Law, finally, I graduated! and now, I've already passed the bored exam.
"Hi love, lawyer na ako. Ito yung araw na pinakahihintay natin diba? Finally, makakalaya ka na dahil maipagtatanggol na kita" My tears fell as I start talking to him.
I can still remember the day I promised him that I can finish my studies and I will become a lawyer. My fiancé was in jail because he was accused that he killed his bestfriend but I know that he's innocent and he can't do such thing. Our life was tough that time. My father that time was admitted to the hospital so we badly needed the money while my fiancé doesn't have any relatives and he has no family, an orphan rather that's why we can't get him a lawyer.
I'm still studying that time on our province and we're classmate with his bestfriend.
Lagi niya pang sinasabi noon na nahihiya na siya sa'kin at sa pamilya ko dahil wala siyang maipagmalaki dahil hindi siya nakapag-aral and he's just a highschool graduate while me, malapit nang maabot ang mga pangarap but I'm always telling him that he doesn't need to say that because he's a loving and caring man for me and he's also a responsible and hardworking person so there's no reason for him to feel that he's worthless.
"Love, are you listening right now? I'm already a lawyer. Makakalaya ka na, pwede na tayong magpakasal at bumuo ng masasayang ala-ala"
"p-pero love... ang daya mo. Hindi mo hinintay na mangyari ang mga bagay na 'yon. Y-you left me" my tears burst like falls.
I can't stop myself from crying on his grave habang sinasapo ang lapida nito.
Isang taon na pala ang nakalipas when my fiancé died inside the jail but I still can't moved on. He was stabbed on his chest and has many bruises all over his body and faces like he was punched so many times.
"S-sorry love kung wala akong nagawa para mailigtas ka. I'm so sorry love. I'm sorry for everything" It's all my fault. Kung hindi dahil sa'kin hindi siya makukulong at mamamatay.
We're on the falls that time for our class bonding and I let my fiancé joined us. That's the day when his bestfriend, the son of the Mayor in our province tried to raped me and as I pushed him, his head accidentally hit on the sharp edge of stone and my Fiancé witnessed what had happened and I was so nervous p-pero... inako niya ang kaso na dapat para sa'kin and the Mayor was filled with anger that time while saying that he'll make sure that my fiancé will pay for his son's death.
"Love, if you're listening, I hope that you're happy now, magkakasama na kayo pati ng magulang mo. Pero... para tuluyan ka nang matahimik I need to set you free"
"L-love, I'm already setting you free. Don't worry about me anymore. I will be alright" after saying those words, nakaramdam ako malamig na hangin na dumampi sa'king balat. "Thankyou for everything love and I'm sorry for what i've done. I'll give justice for your death I promised that and... I will tell them everything. I'll prove to them that you're innocent"
"I already have a hint kung sino pumatay sayo. I'll give you justice love like what i've promised you"
