Violet laid there awake that night, processing everything slowly. She could hear his muffled screams so vividly as she watched his eyes dart from left to right. The way bullets of sweat ran down his pale forehead.
She was unfazed.
It didn't bother her that she took a life. After all, he was a possible threat to their relationship.
Violet knew Clementine lied about not seeing him. She just wanted to give her some time to trust her. She wouldn't want to force anything and scare her away.
She was careful with the women she picked. She always tried to break down their character. Just from their first interaction, she knew Clementine was broken. She could see everything in her eyes. She was a crushed soul, looking for something to keep fighting for.
Violet volunteered to be that something.

"So, I was thinking, and hopefully this won't be too much for... us." Clementine started off with a light tone, typing away at her keyboard. Violet looked away from her phone with a smile. She couldn't help but treasure Clementine. "Maybe I could meet your friends and you could meet mine...?" Clementine cringed, hoping she wouldn't get declined. She had this sparkle in her eyes again. The sparkle that would make you say yes to anything. That same sparkle that made Violet fall madly in love with her over and over again.
"Yeah... Sure. I'm cool with that." Violet smiled before kissing Clementine's cheek gently. "Sooooooo... is right now a good time...?" Clementine questioned her, crossing her fingers, hoping she would get Violet to say yes again.
Violet let out a groan. "I wanna stay in bed with you today." She sighed, gently kissing the brunette's forehead. Clementine giggled as she embraced the kisses before giving puppy dog eyes. "Please? It's kinda nice out today." She whispered with a soft smile tracing her lips. "It's impossible to tell you no." Violet grumbled playfully, shaking her head.
"So it's a yes?"
"It's a yes."

Violet slid into the booth next to Clementine, taken away by how fancy the restaurant was. "I feel so underdressed right now." Violet let out a huff, whispering to her girlfriend. "I think you look good." Clementine gave a pleasant smile, taking note of her lover's outfit.
Her hair was down for once and her crispy, white button-down shirt was tucked into her black dress pants perfectly with the top two buttons undone. It was everything it needed to be.
Violet noticed the hazel orbs on her body, but she didn't mind it. "Everything okay, love?" Violet smirked, not noticing the girls joining them until she heard the clicking of heels. All three of the girls slid into the booth with some intention of being seen.
"Well, good afternoon Clementine." One of the girls spoke with confidence, ignoring the sight of Violet. "I missed you guys so much." Clementine spoke with excitement before looking over to the blonde who sat awkwardly in the seat next to her.
"So, who's this?" One of the girls smiled softly, referring to Violet. "I'm Violet, nice to meet you." Violet introduced herself with a charming smile, reaching her hand out to the first girl. "I'm Becca. Nice to meet you too." Becca returned the favor, shaking her hand firmly. "I'm Sophie." The redhead shook her hand, happy to meet her, unlike the first girl. "I believe we met already, I'm Brody... I volunteer at the hospital sometimes... I see you around." Brody shook her hand gently, not wanting to seem as if they knew each other too well.
"I want you guys to know that dinner is on me." Becca smiled sweetly, seeming as if she had condescending intentions behind her words. "It's fine, I can pay for my own food... You don't have to." Violet informed her, not allowing herself to openly depend on anyone. Some people don't let things go.
"It's not an issue, I promise." Becca kept that same smile on her face. Violet read right through it. She knew what kind of person she was already.
Becca was Clementine's best friend. A sassy mouth brunette who swore she was better than everyone. She was also the richest. Her whole entire life was handed to her. She was adopted, which was something her and Clem had in common, but Becca got lucky. Her mom was a doctor and her dad just happened to be one of the founders of Apple. Becca had a pretty easy life growing up, went to private school, had a free ride all the way through college, she never had to work... All of it was handed to her. A thousand dollars was like twenty to her. The only thing Becca only had to worry about was her social media.
Then there was Sophie. She was a sweetheart. A social media influencer who made a brand for herself, a twin, and she had a pretty simple life. She grew up with both parents in the house, had a free ride all the way through college, she met her friends through a scholarship program which of course their parents paid for them to get into and have a guaranteed full ride, she got along with her sister, and surprisingly, they were the best of friends. Basically, she went to college for nothing, since social media was the only thing she had to worry about as it's her only source of income.
Lastly, there was Brody. Brody had to earn her life. Her parents were rich and all, but she didn't want their money without working for it. She was always a daddy's girl growing up, which meant she could get everything she wanted for free, but her mom wouldn't allow it. She wanted to raise a hard-working woman just in case anything was to happen to their money. So, Brody kept track of the farm life on their property, fed them, washed them, cleaned their cages, everything. She went to Yale and didn't have to pay a single dime for any of it. She went for criminal law and works as a lawyer now. She was the only one who was truly successful.
Violet agreed to let her pay, but only this one time.
"So, Violet, where are you from?" Sophie asked, killing time as they waited for the waiter to take their orders. "Texas, born and raised." Violet tipped her imaginary cowboy hat with a joking smile causing Sophie to chuckle softly. Clementine was enjoying this. Watching everyone get along without having to say a single word.
"How's life been, Clementine?" Becca gave her an attentive look. "It's been great. Ever since I met Violet, I've been doing a lot better in school... My time management skills are A1 now, thanks to her." Clementine spoke happily, not noticing how Becca's face frowned up whenever she talked about Violet.
"And Violet, you said you worked at a hospital?" Becca switched her attention to her, forgetting about Clementine. "Yeah, it's a pretty good job, I love the people there."
"So, you make good money then?"
"Yeah, I guess you could say that. I hate talking about money. I don't want anyone to think I'm bragging." Violet attempted to shake the topic.
"Well, we're all Millionaires at this table, so, speak freely."
Violet looked at Clementine for permission, earning a smile of approval from her without hesitation. Violet didn't like how she was put on the spot so quickly. "Well, yeah, I make good money... I drive a good car, luckily I got a house in the good part of the city. It's pretty nice. I don't really have much to brag about."
"You're the type of gal Clementine needs then. She tends to fall for the wrong guys, so, I guess a lady might do her some good for once. I swear, every guy she falls for? An asshole." Becca scoffed playfully, leaving Clementine visibly uncomfortable.
Just in time, a waitress came over.
"Hey, what can I get you guys today?" The waitress spoke freely, yet with a sophisticated tone.
"I'm paying good money to be here, lady. I expect you to treat me like the queen of England or something." Becca snapped at her.
The waitress rolled her eyes, "Good afternoon, ladies. Welcome to Nikolai's Roof. How may I serve you today?"
