(First Person POV)
It has been ten years since then. Now, whenever I see one of those walking corpses, I never hesitate to cut it down to size. How I survived this long is a wonder, but I'm not complaining.
I always end up seeing old friends, but true to my word, I don't freak out, and after getting a nice long look at it, I force myself to get my shotgun and blow it to hell. The only friend (Well...frenemy) I've seen who's alive is someone who was in my class, the hot headed Katsuki Bakugo.
We stayed with each other for the first three years of the apocalypse, but after that, we split up, going our own ways. I haven't seen him since then, so I have no clue if he's still alive, but based on his strength, he should be.
I was looking through my fridge, trying to find something to eat, but almost everything was gone. I had to get more food, so I grabbed my backpack, my shotgun and my dagger and left for the store. I had to gut a few zombies on the way there, but it seems as if they're getting stronger. When it used to take one shot to kill them, now it took three. I decided to stop for a bit and analyze the zombie. It seemed to have a ton more bullet holes, ones that looked like they were from all different times. So that means this zombie was shot almost ten times and still hadn't died. I was a bit worried at that, but I got up and pressed on until the store came into view.
I breathed in relief, rushing to the building, but I froze as I watched a zombie walk out with a steak in it's mouth, which looked fresh. "Guess the deli is still good," I muttered before pulling out my shotgun. The zombie looked my direction, and when it saw the shotgun, it seemed to panic, going back into the store quickly.
This...really confused me, as not once in my life had I seen a zombie act like that. Hesitantly, I walked after it, not putting away my shotgun. I saw it hiding behind one of the cashier counters, shaking. This got me worried. What if it's a normal human?
I put away my shotgun and looked over. My assumption was wrong. It was definitely zombie, but it seemed...eerily lively, as if it had just turned. Its tattered clothes and bloody black cuts gave away that it was turned for quite a while now. It looked up at me, still shaking. It was only then that I recognized who it was, and my hands covered my mouth in shock
Those wide eyes, the freckles, and his bushy green hair...I couldn't believe it. This innocent boy looks like he died almost as soon as the outbreak begun. It was my old crush from high school: Izuku Midoriya. I didn't have the heart to kill him, but he was a zombie...and he looked so...scared. I can't really trust a zombie, let alone leave it alive in the same place as me. Zombies hunger for flesh, and the fact that he ran when he saw me is strange. I can't trust a zombie...even if it used to be a friend....right?
