After the ninja world faced a period of crisis once again, the Chuunin exams were delayed and took too long to be scheduled by all nations. Up to this point, Boruto was already 17, a grown man, and so was everyone else.
Despite the winds of change, being a ninja still is much more than just jumping roofs or using ninjutsu, it demands a strong will inside of you, otherwise, you will become just another pawn in someone's game, just a tool. Since childhood, Himawari hears fantastic stories about her father and see all the failures and deeds of her brother, all of it derived by choices weighted from values ... defend the weak, protect your friends, seek the best for future generations and Konoha.
Ideas are easy to comprehend in abstract, but this learning can only be evaluated when brought to the real and cruel world.
"They say that only three-man teams can participate in the Chuunin exams ... so forget it, we won't be able to do it. If that fucker had more ability or didn't try to be such a hero, we ..." Kawaki grumbled at the table while reading the exam flyer with instructions and eating cereal for breakfast.
He was the elder brother, who always wore sleeveless black long coats to show off his gothic tattoo's in his arms and painted his mohawk green with his natural color on the sides (black) because he got tired of bleaching it.
"I already spoke with Inojin, he told me that it is possible." Answered Himawari, moving her head like she was enjoying a song, beaming her happy smile that she knew Kawaki hated for not being able to be rude next it. "Plus! Don't talk about our partner like that, he is hospitalized because someone thought I wasn't able to defend myself from some thugs and decided to retreat ... he bravely defeated his and this person foes and got very hurt ... so, for me, he is a hero." The small person stood up and started to wander around, jumping and humming.
Himawari, the young lady grew to like the traditional Hyüga clothing, the yellow and red kimono. Her hair grew longer, but still with the same flowery shape that matched her cute whisker markings.
During breakfast, Kawaki found out that the flyer predicted a rule that allowed the subscription of two-man teams, as long the third member or, if unable, its representatives give consent to their participation. In his mind, it was a fair rule, since someone who became a liability would not be able to harm the team.
They were still talkingabout the Chuunin exam, after getting the consent of their injured teammate mom, and for a reason beyond Kawaki's perception, his sister was very happy this day, jumping and humming their way back home.
"Why you're so happy today, it's starting to annoy me." He tried to don't sound too grumpy, while he laid on the green sofa in their living room.
"Oh, Kawaki, I got two reasons! Number one: I will be able to see our brother, Sarada, and Mitsuki – hopefully he brings his cat Mikazuki. Number two, Inojin will come over for his art class." She was so excited talking about it that she forgot to breathe while saying it, which made her puffy.
"Great ... hopefully, Boruto has something interesting to tell, because I'm already sick of your shitty boyfriend bringing sunflowers every time he comes by." This time the grumpiness went all out, which he knew would make her angry.
"He does it because he knows that sunflowers are my favorite kind of flowers, plus he isn't my boyfriend!" Hima denied.
"YET!" The angry skank briefly interrupted – "By the way, don't you think Boruto will spend much time talking with us, now that he and Sarada finally started dating, they'll be too busy kissing somewhere far away from us the very moment you turn your back." That was said knowing that would be cruel, but she had enough. Every single opportunity that he had to slander or smear her art pupil, he took and that would make her go nuts.
