I've been playing this all wrong

Lev sat in the far corner of the room, doing nothing in particular. Just listening as the officers took turns questioning me and my lawyer.

I had never been downtown before in my life and it surprised me how normal it looked. Almost the same as every other office on the block.

Mr. King— my lawyer, and I sat on one end of the steel desk in the interrogation room, Rashford— an officer sat opposite us, punching his fist against the metal table top, prying at secrets we didn't have, while his civilian consultant took notes.

"You're not leaving this room until you give us answers, Miss Freeman." Officer Rashford said.
"Mr. Rashford my client is in no state to be answering queries." King said. "She needs to be taken to the hospital, at once!"
"We have doctors here, good ones." He said. "Kalay, fetch a nurse for Miss Freeman."
"No, thank you." I placed a hand on Mr. King's shoulder. "I'm fine, I just... I'll be okay."

Turning back to the officer, "I've told you everything I know." I said.
"If you are not involved, why did you run from Detective Rider?" he asked.

"Detective Rider and I had a small disagreement in the past." I lied, "I thought he'd hold that against me, or maybe I was not ready to face him, I was being impulsive when I ran. I was worried about my father, I hadn't heard from him all night... I'm worried for him and... I'm just really tired!"

I set my head down on the cool metal table. It was uncomfortable against my cheek but I could feel dizziness wash over me, I'd be asleep any second now.

"Damn it!" Rashford stood up, pushing back his chair. "Rider, this is useless."
"You're useless." Lev replied without looking up.
"Let's take 5." He announced and left the interrogation room.

"Miss Freeman I'll get the paperwork ready and try contacting your father." King said.
"Thank you Benedict." I sat back up.
"Won't you be leaving, Mr. Rider?"
Lev made no sign of hearing him.
"Fine then," he gave me a polite nod. "Miss Freeman, you may rest and don't worry, there are camera watching."

Lev looked up from where he sat, eyes wide, staring into the distance and then at Ben, like he'd cracked a code.

"You think a lifeless camera on the wall can protect little Miss Freeman here?" he asked, standing up.
"Detective Rider..." Ben began.

Lev took a closer look at the camera, turning his neck like a parrot. The CCTV camera was exactly above where he had been sitting a moment ago, it was the only blind spot in the room unless there was another camera somewhere else.

"Detective Rider..."
Lev reached for his gun belt, unstrapped the arm and pointed it at the camera.

"So you're watching me?" Lev turned and pointed the pistol straight in my direction. "Watch me now."
"Mr. Rider!" Ben yelled, leaning over the table and shielding my body with his. "Put the gun down, please."

Lev took a step back towards the chair, under the camera and into the blind spot.
"Do you think he can see me?" He asked.
"Officer!" The Lawyer ran for the door, opening it, calling for help.
Lev pulled back the barrel and shot at his leg.

A painfully shrill voice echoed off the iron walls and bursted through my ears, followed by the animal like cry to erupted through Benedict's throat.
I slapped my hands on either sides of my head, stuffing my fingers inside.
I'd heard similar sounds the night of the raid, but the realness of this moment right here seemed to tear through me. A lot louder, a lot more painful.
