"Min Esme, colonel Kim kissed you, colonel Park doesn't want to see anyone but you, put two and two together and the answer is extremely simple"
"Lieutenant choi, shut up"
"Esme you know I'm right, admit defeat just once"
"Never."
The blonde woman stood up from her seat infront of Esme and sighed almost too dramatically.
"So what's happening now?"
"The outbreak is set to happen at exactly midnight, colonel Park is meeting me in about 5 minutes, once the outbreak occurs no one in this building will be permitted outside for a month and you know the rest because I've explained forty times now Hye-jin"
"Oh shit, 5 minutes? I gotta go-"
"Lieutenant colonel Min"
The manly voice brought both the women's attention to the door where a man with light brown, almost blonde, hair entered.
"Ah, lieutenant choi, suprise to see you here"
"Oh, colonel Park, I was just leaving"
Just as Hye-jin began to leave she threw a side stare at Esme, pointing out the obvious tension, but with that Esme only rolled her eyes and stood up to greet the colonel.
"Now that the lieutenant is gone would you like to explain the situation to me lieutenant colonel?"
The man brought himself towards Esme's desk, sitting in the seat Hye-jin was previously in.
"The outbreak is set to happen at midnight, once it's out; no one in this building or any other military base in the countries participating will be permitted to be in the open for at least a month, our special recruits will be sent out to find any healthy survivors and they will bring them back here."
"I see. And, not to be a complete disturbance but what happens if your plans don't work out"
"Then, Jimin, we're all screwed and you might as well kill yourself"
"That's slightly morbid Esme, a woman like yourself should have such on your mind" Jimin said, laughing quietly
"you have a new recruit"
"Indeed we do"
"I hope he doesn't end up a failure like the last special recruit you had"
"Trust me, this one is very different."
"Don't fall into another trap Esme"
"I won't. Please notify the other participating countries of the ignition, we must all start at once"
"Of course"
...
23:00: an hour until the outbreak.
"They're in here"
"Thank you sergeant, you may leave"
The man nodded and left in an instance, Esme didn't wait a second longer and swiped her card over the access panel. The silver doors opened at once, allowing Esme to enter the large double hall, in which 9 men stood.
"Good evening gentlemen" she spoke first, causing all 9 of the recruits to turn their attention to her.
"You didn't tell me she was going to be hot" The recruit at the far end seemed to whisper, almost making Esme laugh.
"I'll take that as a compliment" she said as she walked towards the men but stopping half way, a reasonable distance, she thought.
"I'm lieutenant colonel Min, but I'll allow you to call me Esme"
"Why are we here Esme"
"Because you were stupid enough to get caught"
She rolled her eyes after retorting, clearly having enough of their attitude. She removed her black stilettos and walked closer to the men.
"What? They're uncomfortable" she simply said, redirecting herself the bench Infront of them, sitting down lazily and crossing her legs over.
"I'll be honest with you guys, I don't give a shit about who you were, you can tell me and I'll listen, but I can't promise I'll care. You're here because you're skilled, skilled enough to kill my men, and skilled enough to almost escape them"
"Don't you think you're getting too comfortable with us, lieutenant colonel Min"
Esme tracked the voice to the tall one in the middle. There's always one she thought to herself, beginning to remove her blazer.
"What's your name, yes you in the middle"
"Choi soo-bin."
"The answer to your question, soobin, is no. I don't think I'm comfortable enough if I'm honest, being in a room full of men is quite nerve racking especially when you're the only woman, so isn't it fair that I'm making myself comfortable?" Esme said, tilting her head to side and smiling politely.
Small snickers could be heard around the room, leading to Soo-bin letting out a defeated huff.
"You see over there" she gestured to the left side of the hall which was covered in equipment with her head, whilst removing her blazer completely and dropping it on the floor.
"I want to test you lot of handsome men, maybe your faces are deceiving how useful some of you are"
She headed towards the left of the room, with the men following reluctantly behind her Esme suddenly stopped, as if she remembered something crucial, spinning on her heel, causing the first recruit to almost fall forwards.
"I apologize for that" she said helping up the recruit "but first can all of you tell me your names"
"I thought you didn't care"
"About your past yes, but I can't just keep calling you recruits right?"
"Right."
