At 5:00 AM I arrive in Paradise, Ohio. I pull over at a diner and go inside to get a bite to eat. I take a look at my surroundings. After a few minutes I get my food and start to eat. By the time I finish eating it's 5:30 AM. I go outside to my car and get in. I drive to Paradise Hugh School and look at the damage. I get out of my car and go over to the school and the first thing I notice is a lot of dust. The Mogadorian pop into my brain when I see the dust. I start walking towards the football field. I wasn't sure if Number Four, or John, and Six were still there or not but I decide to look for them anyway. I see 4 teenagers walk out of the woods. There was a girl in all black with combat boots and the others had jeans and t-shirts on. One of them looked vaguely familiar but I couldn't place my finger on where I had seen them.
"Who are you?" The girl in all black asks.
I decided to answer with my birth name instead of the name that I usually gave when it was one of those days where I was feeling more masculine instead of feminine. "I'm Chloe," I tell the girl.
     "Why are you here?"
"I saw that a John and Henri Smith blew up a school in Paradise, Ohio and I came as quick as I could to try to help the Garde."
"Why would you want to help us?"
"Well I know what's going to happen and who's going to win and where all the other Garde are"
"So you're like him?" She points at the person behind who I assumed was John and Sam.
     "Yeah I guess I am"
"I'm Six," she smiles and then turns to John. "I mean what harm could another person be? The more people we have the more we can beat some Mogadorian ass."
"I'm John," John says. "And I'm sorry about Six. She's a little crazy sometimes." John laughs a little while saying that which made me think he was amused when he said that and I was also convinced that he was trying to get himself killed because Six was giving him the death stare.
"It's fine. I actually like Six. She's cool." I smile and look at Sam. "And that must be Sam then?" I ask.
     "Yeah I'm Sam," he says.
"Im sorry to cut this meet and greet short but we should get going. Does anyone have a car or should we steal one?" Six had her arms crossed as she said it.
"I have a car," I reply. There was no way I wanted to steal a car and get on Six's bad side by protesting stealing a car.
     "Where?"
"In the parking lot." John, Six, and Sam start walking towards the parking lot while the other person was behind them. I fall into step next to the person. "Hey."
     "Hey"
     "You look familiar."
"I don't think he have met before so that would be impossible"
"I'm Chloe or Jason it depends. I'm gender fluid."
"I'm Jacob but my friends call me Jake. I have a friend who's gender fluid."
     "Yeah I do."
"Hey does your last name happen to be Katso—," I try to figure out how to pronounce it but get interrupted.
"Yeah it is. Don't worry about trying to say it." We walk in silence for a few minutes before he says something. "Hey are you Jason as in VishnuNationalistEight Jason, as in my son Jason?"
"Yeah that's me." I look over at him.
He tackles me to the ground and gives me a hug just like he said he would if we ever met each other. I laugh and hug him back and then we both get up off the ground. I start running towards the car.
"Last one to the car is a rotten egg!" I yell and start running as fast as I can. I get five feet away from the car and Jake runs past me.
"Haha I win." He sticks his tongue out and starts laughing.
"Come on you two, get in the damn car. By the way I'm driving." Six was already in the drivers seat when she said that. John was in the passengers seat and Sam was in the seat behind John. I sit down in the way back and Jake sits next to me. Six starts driving and I close my eyes. Five minutes later I'm asleep and the last thought I had before falling asleep was about how I had finally met Jake. Jake had been my friend for less than a year but he was one of my best friends. He made me laugh and smile every day since I had met him and I would be forever grateful that he came into my life.
At the time though, I didn't know how much I would need him in the days to come.
