"Oh dont you understaaand, you never changing who I am." I was softly singing a song that was stuck in my head as my dad and I walked into the small chinese place. I shuffled my feet in my boots, very aware i had no socks on. I had forgotten to grab socks as I rushed out of the house for dance two hours earlier.
"aghh. Papa, I'm cold." I whined, stepping closer to my dad who was looking at the menu above the counter.
He smiled and nonchalantly put his arm around me. I breathed in and dug my face into his side and just stood there as he ordered our food. He was giving off so much warmth! It wasnt fair.
"okie, about fifteeeen meenoots," Our chinese friend told us when dad was done ordering. I smiled at her and she said "Buh bye!" as she flashed me a chirpy smile back. We opened the door and walked into the cold November night.
I let go of dad and shoved my small hands into my pockets of my sweatshirt started to jog to Bloom. I turned around, still jogging and laughed back at my dad, walking slowly enough a turtle would pass him.
"Dad!!! Come on! We will die in this weather! Hurry up!!" I shouted back at him, he just rolled his eyes in return. And continue walking slowly. I swear it was like he wanted to become a popsicle. He looked at me as I continued slightly running, backwards. I stuck my tongue at him and he laughed. " Oh no! Not the dreaded tongue! " He chuckled at me and i turned around.
"OOOF!!!!" I let out a jumbled sound as I ran into something hard.
"Olivia!" A voice shouted from behind me. I dont know who it was, nor did I care. All I know, was I was staring at a gorgeous hunk of meat.
He was about 6 feet tall, with brown hair and brown eyes. But not, little boy eyes. Not eyes that you just go "Arent you just the cutest thing ever?" No. These eyes were older, warm, inviting and certainly breathtaking.
"Sorry, sweetie." He said, his smile slightly ajar, implying I was like, ten. I inwardly pouted, not saying anything about his comment, but then replied. " No im sorry! Its so darn cold out here and i was running to get inside and my dad is walking soooooooooooo.......slooooooow." I rambled, slowly enunciating the last two words.
My dad walking up next me, eyeing this stranger infront me.
He let out a short laugh and frowned looking towards the parking lot, unhappily. "Okay well, watch out where your going next time sweetie." He said awkwardly smiling and running throught the automatic doors into the grocery store.
"You okay?" My dad questioned, holding my chin. I laughed. "Yeah dad. I wasnt raped or anything," I retorted, rolling my eyes at his overprotectiveness.
