Three
Evan clears the area sending Tom home and Ben as well. He then instructed the remaining officers to resume their regular patrol routes. Evan makes sure that Allan closes the store down and leaves. Driving home, he is reliving the horrific event, thinking of how he will explain Andy's disappearance. And most important, how will he write up his report about the whole damn thing? Evan pulls into his driveway and turns his car off.
He unlocks the front door at half-past nine and walks in. Amy is sitting on the couch in a sexy black see-through robe. Evan places his keys on the table, walks over to his wife, bleeding knee, and bends over to kiss her. Amy kisses him gently and looks at his knee, "Babe, what happened? Did you chase someone down and hurt yourself?" she asks. Evan sits beside her on the couch, putting his hands over his face. He unleashes a fury of tears. His face turns blood-red. Veins on his head and neck grow large as a result of extreme agony.
Amy rubs his back, "Evan, what the fuck babe. What's wrong? Talk to me...what happened?" she asks. Tears roll down her milky-white cheeks smearing the lavish makeup she put on to seduce her husband. Her beautiful, long-blonde-hair dangles down from her head. She reaches for a scrunchie to pull it back into a ponytail. Amy gets on her knees in front of Evan, "Evan, baby, it's okay. Whatever it is ...you're okay now," she says, putting her arms around him as tight as she can.
Evan breaks her arms away and swallows her up into his. Evan pulls her closer and whispers in her ear, "Andy's gone ...he's fucking gone, and it's my fault. I am responsible for my men. Fuck, why didn't he listen to me? God-fucking-damnit," he shouts as snot runs over his upper-lip. He stares into his wife's luscious-deep-blue-eyes, "Amy," he pauses, "I don't know what to do. I can't even begin to explain what we saw. The whole thing seems surreal, like a living nightmare," he says. Amy wants him to explain. She wants to know. She will probably have to wait until morning to get him to talk. Evan sits still, still shedding tears.
Amy gets Evan up off the couch and walks him upstairs. She takes him to the bathroom to get his clothes off and starts the shower. Evan steps in and lets out a sigh of relief as the hot water rolls from his head down his body. After ten-minutes, Evan steps out, grabs his towel, dries off, and puts his night robe on. Amy is sitting patiently on the bed, waiting for him to come out of the bathroom. The bathroom door opens, and Evan slips his feet into his slippers by the door.
He walks over to the side of the bed and kneels-down. Amy gives off a stunned look and thinks,"He's never been praying man.' Amy gets up and walks to his side of the bed, kneels beside him, and softly whispers, "I'm here, my love. Let it all out." Evan takes her hand into his left and gently squeezes her hand. Evan looks up to the ceiling, "I'm not sure what the fuck I'm doing, but I'm calling out to whoever. I don't know if there is a God—but if there is, I could certainly use some divine-fucking-intervention. Whoever you are, if you exist, we're dealing with real out-of-this-world-shit. Amen, I guess," Evan says as he turns to his wife.
Amy, can we talk in the morning? I want to sleep off this motherfucking day."
"Sure, Evan. And let me just say one thing, I don't think God, if he is real, would appreciate the language in your prayer," she says, smiling. Evan gives her a wink and says, "Do you think it fucking matters? I saw shit tonight that has me questioning what is or who is real. Trust me—there is some scary shit going on."
"Well, I won't be able to understand if you keep this shit to yourself!" she says with a bit of sarcasm. Amy kisses his left cheek, gives him a wink, stands up, and drops her see-through-robe off. She motions with her finger signaling Evan to come to her. He quickly rises to his feet, throws his robe off, and gently goes between Amy's legs causing her to moan softly.
