Marinette Dupain-Cheng was many things.

Strong, good willed, positive, cute, sweet, clumsy, intelligent, creative, oh the list can go on and on and on.

But there was one thing that really stood out to her classmates.

She was in love.

Or as her best friend Alya would put it, completely and utterly OBSESSED.

See, Marinette was a fun, lighthearted, sassy girl who shot snarky remarks back to her friends as retaliation. She has a tight friend group who she would trust with her whole heart. She usually never thought twice about her word choice and mostly talked with everyone this way.

Key word: mostly.

Adrien Agreste was the exception of the mostly criteria. Whenever the name "Agreste" or "Adrien" was mentioned, her eyes became as wide as saucers and she would always trip on her words. If she hadn't met him yet, she would have chalked it up to being somewhat disoriented after slipping and bashing her head on the floor. Solid excuse.

But every time she sits in class, she always takes time to appreciate the human incarnation of the sun sitting just in front of her. Mrs. Bustier, however amazing she was, could never compete with the blonde-haired,green-eyed boy in the class.

Marinette wasn't exactly inconspicuous with this either, unbeknownst to her. Her bright shimmering eyes drilled into the back of Adrien's head every day. All the girls knew (Even though, annoyingly, Alix always teases her about her crush on a model and Alya snort-laughing right beside her.) Everyone in the class claimed that she was "Too obvious," or "He would know by now." However, despite all their comments, Adrien remained clueless about the die-hard crush his best friend had on him.

Today was one of those days.

Marinette rested her head on her desk, exausted after last night. Her responsibility as Ladybug had kept her up at night fighting another nighttime akuma. Hawkmoth may have more time, but it's straight up despicable if he sends out an akuma at one in the morning, she thought. Ugh, sometimes having a normal life seemed so out of reach for her. She caught herself drifting and snapped herself back into reality. Not now, Marinette. not now!

Marinette wasn't a lazy girl. she worked hard and earned decent grades. Her working the bakery and as Ladybug prevented her from getting all the sleep and sound in the world. She wildly looked around, trying to find something that she could use to distract herself with. Her eyes landed on the boy in front of her and decided her only solace was Adrien's radiance and unfathomable beauty. She watched him closely, not trying to make it too obvious, and she realized something.

He seemed to be having the same issue as her, but on a whole different scale.

Adrien's eyes seemed to have lost its shine, sparkling emeralds having become dull viridians. His eyes had obvious dark circles under them, as if he hadn't gotten any sleep in at all. Marinette observed him, dumbstruck, as he reached out for his tablet like a zombie and clutched it tightly to his chest as if it were the only thing keeping him conscious. The blonde boy's eyes slowly started to slide closed, and she watched horrified as he fell asleep. Adrien's head lolled back immediately as he snored softly.

Marinette looked around panicked, trying to find someone to help her. What if she woke him up, and he would get mad at her for messing up his beauty sleep and yell at her? No, Adrien wasn't that kind of guy. Although he would be even more beautiful with beauty sleep, right? Maybe I should let him sleep. But Mrs. Bustier might catch him! What if- OH MARINETTE, STOP! She looked around, wide-eyed, for someone to help her. Nope, all were occupied. Nino and Alya were sending flirty texts to one another, not even bothering to hide their phones. Juleka, Rose, Mylene, and Alix were all whispering to each other and giggling quietly. The boys were diligently working, their brows furrowed in concentration. And over her dead body she would be asking Chloe.
