"We've gotta do campfire stories, they don't necessarily have to be scary stories- they could be like, funny moments!"
The evergreen forest of critters and wildlife scattered around the low dimmed light of the radiating heat the campfire brought out to warm the four lively huddled friends in their bonding. Sarah, the leader of the group and the one who planned the camp for her friends to get away from their life responsibilities and stress, suggested to share stories in their first night together.
"Sure, anyone got any good stories to share?" Cameron said, his breath being captured from the cold as a cool mist of white fog.
He had his right arm wrapped around Jane as his fickering fingers circled shapes on her arm. Jane covered herself from head to toe with a brown striped blanket her best friend lended to her as she snuggled closer towards Cameron for his warmth.
"Oh i now! What about the time when we almost got caught by the police at the mall for that "stolen" ring?" Jane abruptly stood up slipping away from Cameron's grasp as her eyes twinkled in recoginition to her friends.
They all looked at her with warm smiles at her liveliness and nodded thinking back on the memories, except Cameron who was slightly annoyed at the heat that left his side, leaving him quickly feel the cold.
"That's a good story, you tell it and sit back down, it's too cold to be moving alot!" He spitted as he motioned her with his hands to hurry.
She smiled brightly at his response and quickly sat next to him and cleared her throat in exaggerated preperation.
"Twas it be a surprisingly cold afternoon of clouded skies and darkened winds that were to powerful to be outside in. My lowly self had become bored of such view to look upon and asked myself if this day was gonna be reckoned to be this boring." Jane rose up batting away Cameron's complains as she brought up her hands up to the sky as if she was mixing a pot of spells as memories.
"Why is she so dramatic?" Jacob whispered towards Sarah as Jane suddenly got ontop of the log they sat on with her index pointing towards the sky.
"Because she's happy," Sarah quietly said, "She hasn't had the chance to express herself ever since the divorce."
Sarah turned back at Jane as she countinued her story, hiding the worry she's had over her friend since the beginning of high school with a smile. As much as Jane was an incredible storyteller, she fell quiet and expressionless throughout the year, the divorce beating her once liveliness. After the last day of school, Sarah couldn't stand her friend staying alone in the situation she couldn't run away from so she brought to herself to help the only way she could think of.
"Camping?" Cameron winced.
"Camping for a whole week, just our friend group and the wilderness."Sarah replied, she pleaded with her eyes at Cameron knowing he hates the cold, and hates bugs.
"I don't know Sarah, i don't think I'll be able-" he started.
"Jane is coming, i already asked and confirmed with her- she needs this Cameron, and i know she'd love it if you were there." She reasoned as he scratched his neck looking away.
"Fine, but if i get hypothermia-"
"I'll burn your body to smithereens then stuff it in a backpack that will travel on a ship all the way to Hawaii then have someone bury you in the dirt of a palm tree seed." She cooly spitted.
"NO! Just keep my ashes in a very expensive vase and have someone knock it down then vacuum then throw it away in a garbage disposal," He demanded, jokingly putting a hand on his chest, wiping an imaginary tear.
" that way Jane will know our love is a tragic old true tale worth to brag about!"
