Pain Is Relative

I imagine the pain I feel
Being that like my ribs cracking.
Pain is relative, however,
Or at least so they say.

I imagine the happiness
That could've came from you.
All the shared laughter and memories
Now just dust and ash.

I imagine the hurt I feel
Of having my heart ripped out and crushed.
But hearts bend,
They can not break.

I imagine the dreams
We could've shared.
The passions and hopes,
That we could watch flourish throughout our lives.

I imagine what could have been
If that night went a little differently.
If we continued the routine of us,
If there even was an us.

I imagine the nights you sit alone,
Hoping you think of me in the ways I think of you.
Wishing that things may have went differently,
And we could still be us.

Pain is relative, so they say.
But if pain is relative and hearts bend instead of breaking,
Why am I full sorrows, and regrets and left to mend a broken heart?
