As I walked into my fifth period class, I got butterflies, like always. I took my assigned seat behind him.
"Hey," he says with that smirk that makes me want to jump him.
"Hey," I smile back, and Mrs. Reilly started her lecture on the impact Shakespeare can have on you if you truly let him, and like always, I end up staring at that perfect head of his; curly black hair, and his light complexion that only he seems to be able to pull off.
"Bailey, would you like to express your opinion on the matter?" Mrs. Reilly asked, impatiently.
"Oh-I-Uh, I mean, uh-"
"I think Bailey is trying to cleverly convey the fact that she simply cannot pick one think that she loves MOST about Shakespeare. In fact, she is so befuddled about a way to express said opinion, she cannot even form a concrete thought on just how much he has molded the minds of the past and will thus continue to mold these great mind of our generation, Mrs. Reilly," he said slyly.
"Well, thank you for that excellent speech, Mr. Daniels, but in the future, I would much rather have Bailey tell us how Shakespeare dissembles her to think clearly."
The bell rang, and he turned and winked at me, "See you in History."
"Yeah, and thank you for saving me," I said gratefully.
He chuckled. "Oh, it is always my pleasure to save you, Bailey," and left.
As I walked to French, Tina met up with me.
"So, how was English?" She said with a smirk.
"Same as always," I laughed. "Ethan, beautiful as always, dazzling me, as always," I sighed.
She laughed, "You poor thing! Why don't you just ask him out already if you like him so much?!"
"Because he'll say no!-" I felt a playful shove behind me, and Ethan smiled at me, and put his arm around me and Tina. 'So, what are we talking about, ladies?" he said playfully.
"Uh, oh well, ya know, just a, girl stuff," I laughed nervously.
He grinned at me, "Bailey, you always make me laugh, you're so cute! Well, see ya later!" and he gave me a playful punch in my arm, and walked into his class.
"Girl, he so likes you, it's completely obvious!" Tina said, like I was silly for even wondering.
I walked into French with tomato red cheeks, and didn't concentrate on a single French word said that day.
As French came to a close, I shot up from my seat and hurried along to my last class for the day; history. It might be a class I could actually get into if Ethan Daniels wasn't also present, because it was hard enough to focus on how to breathe let alone an entire subject when I was around him.
While I was getting up to leave-and trying not to trip over thin air, I might add- Ethan caught me before I made it too far. Could I be imagining things? Or did he look nervous?
"Hey Bailey, so I've been trying to think of a way to ask you something for a while now and can't ever seem to get it out. Any chance you might be interested in going to see a movie with me sometime? Or going bowling or something?"
I did an internal squeal. 'No,no' i reasoned with myself, I was not going to lose my shit just because a boy asked me out. 'Just calm down Bailey, he's just a boy.' I told myself. And then realized he needed an answer.
"Yes Ethan, that would be great," I smiled.
"Great!," he said enthusiastically, "Are you free tonight?"
I pretended to think about it before answering, "Yes, I actually am free tonight."
He opened up his notebook and scribbled down something before handing it to me. "This," he said "Is my number. Text me when you get home." And with that, we parted ways, and I had to remember the way to my car that i normally had memorized.
