Chapter 6"Aur Aahista Kijiye Baatein"
Her breath had not yet returned to normal when she closed the door behind her. Mr. Asad Ahmed Khan was becoming a tougher challenge to understand day by day. She decided to dissect his behavior since the day that wretched table had decided to make an appearance in her way.
1. He had become a fire spitting Godzilla when she had mentioned about bringing Laddu home obviously not trusting her plans, almost biting her head off when she had hurt her foot or better his precious Tanu's foot.
She couldn't help but cringe at the memory.
2. Accompanied by his indifference. He had ignored her for those couple days just like she had ignored him.
The two behaviours — his anger and indifference — were Asad's usual code of conduct towards her. Something she was used to. Unfortunately.
But where does she even begin to explain what had happened a few minutes ago! Her mind still spun with confusion, she was just so unsure of what to make of the bizarre yet exhilarating conversation. He had been so calm, so polite, so unlike himself with almost all his walls down. Almost. He had apologized to her , out of all the things, something he never did. And to top it all off, looked into her eyes like... like... like that. It had knocked the breath dry out of her lungs.
Zoya knew there was no denying anymore. She had accepted it long ago, without even realizing, that she had indeed fallen in love with her Jahapanah six packs; her tummy swarmed by butterflies as she finally said it out loud for the first time.
"Allah Miyan! I am in love with Asad Ahmed Khan", she exclaimed breathless.
Gosh! How was she even supposed to fall asleep tonight?
xx
The turning and tossing had eventually exhausted Asad's body but his heart still danced. The freak named Laddu was not going to be anywhere Zoya. He wouldn't have to pretend like he didn't care while it clawed him on the inside. But that wasn't one of the only reasons his heart rejoiced. He had finally got it together and apologized.
So many things had gone unsaid.
So many unheard.
Every time he looked into her eyes, he had lost his train of thought. He didn't know what came over him tonight. Maybe he was scared of losing her. It felt just like the day when he had left her to take the bus home on that stupid highway. The day Tanveer stepped back into his life.
Tanveer!
Only he knew the patience that stopped him from going out and wringing her neck. And he just instinctively knew why he needed Zoya to sit beside him so badly tonight. Because if she hadn't, nothing would have stopped him from going out and confronting Tanveer.
He just could not believe it. What had become of her? He had refused to believe the things Prasad disclosed to him at first. Thinking it was a case of mistaken identity. There was no way Tanu could be so vile. Yes, she was behaving very weirdly, especially towards him but he had partly hired the investigator to make sure she was safe too. With her burnt factory and really nowhere to go, he feared the wind of desperation would maneuver her towards the wrong direction. She had been avoiding him every time he asked what she did during the day. So he knew whatever she was going on about with that nurse, she was not going to disclose it to him.
Asad exhaled a long shaky breath. His hands balled into fists by his side, knuckles turning white as he clutched the edge of his bed violently. The only thing stopping him from bursting through the door.
