Tana comes to our room so we can all get changed into what we bought. I open my bag and put on my clothes. They fit super well and look amazing.
I do my hair into space buns with two pieces hanging loose in the front. Moriah and Tana come in with my eye shadow palette.
"I'm so excited to see Avery's face when he sees you." Moriah says.
"Yeah it'll be all," Tana imitates a surprised face with some drool.
We all snort laugh.
I brush on some of the babe color, which is a bright bubblegum pink, put on some matte lipstick the same color, and spritz on some perfume that smells like heaven. Well at least, that's what it's called.
Tana puts on her Doc Martens and a black plaid skirt, pulls her hair into space buns as well, but keeps her black cropped tee shirt. We kind of match so Moriah puts on a similar light blue skirt and white shirt that looks like Tana's, pulls her hair into space buns, and borrows my white docs.
We stand in front of the mirror.
"Damn. We look like a squad." Tana says.
We do. We look awesome. We all match and look hot.
After taking some selfies, we head downstairs to the lobby, where Moriah said we're meeting the rest of the fam.
"I'm kind of nervous." I say to them.
"It's okay." Moriah says to me. "Oakleigh you got this."
I take a deep breath and step out of the elevator.
The rest of the group is there but when we walk in it's like everyone notices. I feel like I'm in a movie, walking in slow motion down a red carpet. Avery looks starstruck and Kaelyn looks surprised and angry.
Ben looks at Moriah like she's the only girl in the room, and everyone just kind of stares. It's all kind of quiet. My bomb outfit gives me a surge of confidence so I walk over to where Avery is.
"Hey Avery," I say flirtatiously, looking at him through my eyelashes.
"Oh, um, uh, hey," He says. "You look really pretty."
I think he forgot Kaelyn was there until she let out a "hmph!" And flounces away.
Even then he doesn't look like he notices that much.
"How was Times Square for you?" I ask him.
The group starts to walk to dinner.
"Oh yeah, I went with Kaelyn. It was pretty fun. She took me shopping and then we got some food." He says.
"That sounds nice." I say cheerfully even though I'm low key jealous he ended up going with Kaelyn.
"What about you?" He asks. "I saw that you went with that one skater girl and Moriah."
"That's Tana. She's really cool. Yeah I did. We went shopping too. That's where we bought our outfits." I say.
"They look awesome by the way." He says. "You look awesome."
I turn a bit pink but I don't know if Avery notices. "Aw thank you." I say.
Avery looks up at the sky which is already dark. "It's so weird that there aren't stars in New York."
"I know right?" I say. "I heard that there's this place, I forget where it is but it has the clearest nights ever."
"Wow. I would love to see that." He says. "That sounds fucking amazing."
"Totally. Stargazing is the best." I say.
And even though I'm a little jealous that Avery likes Kaelyn, I don't feel that bad about it anymore. I'm in a bomb outfit with all of my favorite people, in the coolest city on the East Coast.
