Satan's Meeting

Part 1

Satan called a worldwide convention of demons.  In his opening address, he stated, “We can’t keep Christians from going to church, reading their Bibles and knowing the Truth. We can’t keep them from forming an intimate relationship with their Savior.  Once they gain that connection with Jesus, our power over them is broken.  So let them go to their churches; let them have their covered-dish dinners. But steal their time, so they don’t have time to develop an abiding relationship with our enemy Jesus Christ.  This is what I want you to do”, said the devil, “Distract them from gaining the Life that is found in their Lord and maintaining a connection with Him throughout their day.”

“How shall we do this?” his demons shouted.

“Keep them busy in the non-essentials of life and invent innumerable schemes to occupy their minds,” he answered.  “Tempt them to spend and spend and spend and borrow and borrow and borrow.  Persuade them, both male and female, to work long hours chasing money to try to afford their empty lifestyles.  Keep them from spending time together with each other, with their children, and as families.  As their families fragment, their homes will offer no escape from the pressures of work.  Over stimulate their minds until you have drowned out that “still, small voice”.  Entice them to play with electronics and technology in their homes, cars and places of work: CDs, DVDs, Smartphones, tablets, laptops and TVs.  See to it that every store and restaurant plays secular music constantly.  This will jam their minds and break their union with The Christ.  Fill their coffee tables with magazines, books and newspapers.  Pound their minds with mundane news broadcasts 24 hours a day.  Invade their driving moments with billboards and radio talk shows.  Flood their mailboxes with junk mail, catalogs, sweepstakes and every kind of promotion offering free products and false hopes.  Keep skinny, cosmetically-enhanced, tanned and toned and air-brushed models in front of them as examples of outward beauty so that they will become dissatisfied with themselves and their lives.  Give them Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny to divert their attention from our enemy’s Incarnation, Life, Sacrifice and Resurrection.  Even in their exercise, let them be excessive.  Make them return from their recreation exhausted.  Keep them too busy when they are in nature to behold The Creators glory.  Send them to amusement parks, sporting events, plays, concerts and movie theaters instead.  Keep them BUSY, BUSY, BUSY.  Crowd their lives with so many good causes that they have no time to seek power from their Lord.  Soon they will be working in their own strength, sacrificing their health and family for “the good of the cause”.

“It will work!  It will work!” shouted all of Satan’s demons in unison.  The demons went eagerly to their assignments causing Christians everywhere to get busier and busier.  More rushed and spread far too thin going here and there seeking meaning and purpose.  Having little time to sit at Jesus’ feet and learn from Him.  Having little time to tell others about His saving grace and His immeasurable love.

The question is, has the devil been successful in his schemes?  Does “BUSY” mean B-eing U-nder S-atan’s Y-oke?  You be the judge...
