Harry leaned against the brick building and wiped his rain-slicked hair away from his eyes. The clap of thunder boomed through the forbidden forest and lightning flashed through the trees.
"Hermione, Ron," he belted, "we have to get to class!"
The trio bolted through the gate and sprinted down the corridor. They burst through the doorway and sprung into their seats as Professor Mcgonnagall shouted "You're late!" and with the flick of her wand, flung the door shut.
The slam rang through Harry's ears and a gust of wind flapped from the frame. As it travelled through the room, it fluttered Draco's pale, lemon hair. He picked up his veiny hand and ran his fingers along his scalp. The wispy yellow locks caught Harry's attention. Draco leaned back in his chair, his protruding member making an imprint in his black khakis. Harry's eyes glinted and widened. Saliva slinked off his uvula and collected along his tongue. Draco spun back in his chair and smirked at Harry. His ashen eyes sparkled in the lamp-lighted room.
"Ugh," Harry muttered under his breath. The next class of the day was Potions with Professor Snape. As all the students settled into their rickety desks, Snape cleared his throat, signaling class had begun.
"Today," Snape began, "we are going to be brewing a soulmate potion. It is very intricate and specific, therefore every mediocre potion brewer will be paired up with someone more skilled."
Harry groaned and slunk into his seat. His eyes rolled around in his head and dread smothered his face.
"Mr. Potter, sit up!"
Snape's voice started Harry, as he shook and rose in his seat.
"Now, since Mr. Potter seems so eager
to do this, let's pair him with...Malfoy!"
The moment Draco's name left Snape's tongue Harry felt fluttering inside. Anger? Annoyance? Something more? He shook off the feeling and headed over to Draco's station. He locked eyes with the lemon-haired boy.
"Malfoy"
"Potter"
Harry sat down and watched intently as Draco effortlessly put together the potion. Snape walked around to the front of the room and announced, "Now students, take a sip of your potion. If done correctly, you will be unwillingly dragged toward your soulmate."
Draco and Harry took a small sip of the brew. The class burst into chaos. Students flung to the closed door while others shifted towards someone else in the room, yet, Harry and Draco stood completely still.
"It can't be!" Yelled Draco. "My potions are always impeccable!" "Did you slip something in Potter?"
"No!" Harry retorted back. "You can't blame me for anything Malfoy I just sat back and-"
"Stupid Potter! Don't you understand what is going on!" Draco was practically shouting. The whole room looked at them in horror.
Draco grunted and clenched Harry's wrist. He pulled Harry out of the class and drew him down the hall until they found an empty closet. Draco shoved Potter inside and quickly slammed the door shut.
"Wha- What's going on?" Harry muttered. "We should head back before we-"
Harry turned to exit the room but was stopped by Draco's hand slamming on the frame.
"Listen to me closely Potter. I will say this one time and I will not say it again."
Draco swallowed a lump in his throat and raised his chin to meet Harry's emerald eyes. His pale cheeks turned a pinky crimson and his ruthless demeanor faded at the sight of Harry.
"I," Draco stuttered, "Potter, I like you."
