Mia POV

We have spent over half an hour driving in Adrian's car and I'm starting to get a bit impatient and anxious. Plus I really don't like sticking in one place for long with the exception of my bed.

"So where are we going?" I ask, curiosity getting the better of me.

"That, Mia, is classified. You're just gonna have to wait till we get there" Adrian replies

"Seriously your not gonna give even a little hint" I whine

"Nope" he answers popping the p

"Fine but at least answer this. How much longer is the drive gonna take?"

"Actually we're already here" he says pulling up in front of a forest, hiding his car from view.

"We're in the middle of nowhere Adrian" I state, my curiosity rising higher towards its limit.

"Not exactly, c'mon follow me" he says swiftly climbing out of the car

Once I get out he immediately grabs my hand and pulls me into the forest the dark embracing me from every side rendering my vision useless but somehow that doesn't make Adrian falter in his steps. It seems as though he knew this forest off my heart. I'm terrified and as if knowing this Adrian squeezes my hand which radiates warmth into mine.

"We're almost there" Adrian mumbles and soon after he says that do we enter an open space with a cliff which overlooks the city. The lights contrasts the dark, lightening up the night sky.

"Its beautiful." I observe "Where'd you find this place?"

"My mother found this place before I was born and she absolutely loved it so when I was born she wanted to bring me here. It was like a mother/son thing we used to do. I always come here when I want to get away from the world and be alone. Its also a way for me to be closer to my mum cause if she you haven't realised by now she's not really here anymore" he finishes and silence overcomes the both of us.

That's when I realize the picnic basket in Adrian's right hand. I must of not saw it before due to the dark.

"So what do you have in there" I ask nodding towards the basket and that immediately destroys the quietness between us as Adrian immediately voices what he brought.

Two hours later and we're currently talking about random things before I look at my phone and see its 10:30. Immediately my dad's voice floats around in my head

"I want her home by 11"

"Oh sh*t" I exclaim out of nowhere scaring Adrian in the process

"What the hell Mia. What's wrong?"

"My dad said I have to be home by 11 and right now it's 10:30 and if I remember correctly it took us 30 minutes to get here and if we're not home by 11 then we're dead. You more than me though so I guess that's good but we need to go now" I finish already packing up.

"Relax Mia we'll make it thanks to my awesome driving skills" he says not fazed by my rant.

I finish my packing and look at him "Why do I get the feeling that your 'awesome driving skills' will just lead us to a car crash"

"You have so much faith in me Mia. Thanks so much" he replied sarcastically whilst rolling his eyes.

"You're welcome" I answer, distracted by packing up the food.

25 minutes later

After that 25 minute drive, which felt that hours, we finally arrived outside my house door with luckily 5 minutes left to spare.

"We made it" I sigh in relief, relaxing back in my seat, relieving the tension in my body that I didn't even realise that I had.

"See you just had to believe in me Mia" Adrian said

"Yeah I probably should have. Thanks for today Adrian, I actually had fun."

"Well if you had fun then I guess I did my job" then just as that left his mouth the front door opened revealing my father's annoyed face "Looks like that's my cue to leave. I'll see you at school Mia."

"Yeah see you" I reply getting out of the car and walking towards my house only stopping once to wave at Adrian who started backing out of my driveway.

As I stepped into my house and towards my bedroom all I could think was 'I'm actually excited for school'
