I signed the divorce papers in fury as I glanced at my now ex-husband of four years. I refuse to cry at his idiocy. I would never give him the satisfaction. His snarky smirk only increasing my anger. I wish I could just wipe that stupid smirk off his face.
"Now Mr. Scott. I need you to sign here and we'll be all finished." Said the old lawyer. It took Oliver two stokes before we were officially divorced. Good riddance! I collected my items and spoke with my lawyer before marching out of the office. I need something to drink for Heaven's sake . I parked my quiet silver Prius at the curb before hastily opening my door. I threw myself on the nearest barstool and ordered hard Bourbon.
"Rough day?" Asked the bartender. I only nodded before demanding a second one. Drinking my problems wasn't going to make them go away, but I was desperate to get rid of that image of Oliver fucking that bitch.
Gibbons. I hate that bitch!
"Penny for your thoughts?" My eyes slowly peered at the handsome stranger who was wiping the wet glass he had just washed. His cerulean eyes curious and glancing at my terrible condition. Now that I think about, he seemed a bit familiar. I just couldn't figure out who he was.
"If you must know," I began answering sassily. Sassy, drunk Harper was coming back. "I just signed the divorce papers. My idiot of a husband decided to cheat on me with my coworker. And I just had to find them doggy style in my classroom!" Hot-Mystery-Man's face contorted into one of pure disgust before a look of hard confidence replaced it.
"Why are you upset about that? He's an idiot for letting someone as beautiful as you go." Replied the familiar man. He began wiping another glass before it finally hit me. He was my student!
"You're Bennett Hensen!" He gave me a confused look before recognition marked his features. A cute rosy hue began spreading around his cheeks.
"Ms. Young?" Oh my goodness. I was his AP Gov. teacher 8 years ago. This was embarrassing. He rubbed the back of his neck exposing his muscular and toned arms. He has definitely changed in the 8 years since I've seen him. No longer was he the shy, quiet boy anymore. He's now my sexy bartender.
"You don't have to call me that anymore," I quickly uttered. I could feel my naturally rosy cheeks turn into big tomatoes. "How have you been?"
He cleared his throat before he said, "It's been going well. I'm currently working at my father's company right now. Bartending is just a hobby of mine. How about you?" He still had the same nervous demeanor now that he knows who I am. I remember he would get awkward around me when he wanted to ask a question during class. I found it adorable at the time. Now I just want to fuck his manly body senseless.
Nope! Harper, you just got divorced! You're just drunk. I tried to shake away my sinful thoughts in order to talk to him like a normal freshly-divorced human being.
"I'm still teaching, and I guess you now know I'm divorced." I laughed. He bit his pink, full lips. It was so distracting. I wonder what he could do.... Just shut the fuck up, Harper.
"I'm sorry to hear that, Ms- I mean Harper." More color showed on his defined cheek bones.
"Don't worry about it. It was great seeing you again, Bennett." I swiftly got off the stool before any more of whatever that was could continue.
"Harper!" I turned around to see Bennett holding my purse. I internally cursed myself before thanking him. I hate myself, I hate myself, I hate myself.
My mentor wasn't kidding when he said it will be awkward to run into students outside of class. Especially if they're attractive. I made it outside only to realize I didn't have a place to stay. I lived north of California for my me to able to go back home to my parents. I couldn't afford a hotel right now either.
