The following day provided a new clue for Jungkook. Dang Seung had definitely had to provide his address when he had started working here. If he went to that address, surely, he would be able to figure out what to do from there. He might be able to get some further clues. He pondered this as he poured his morning coffee. He never used to drink coffee so regularly, but he found himself reaching for the regularity now.
"Are you thinking about something?" Namjoon asked from behind him. He was messing around with the kitchen tap.
"Do you have Dang Seung's address?"
Jungkook swore, he heard Namjoon stiffen. He heard the apprehension clawing its way through the air.
"Why do you want it?"
"I need it."
"I need a why."
Jungkook fought to come up with a response. Namjoon put his hand on his shoulder. His intense gaze made Jungkook's thinking falter even more.
"I... am trying to figure something out. I feel like everything that happened was connected and I'm trying-"
"That's too dangerous."
Jungkook shook his head. He didn't care if Namjoon didn't understand.
"Hyung, if you have it, give it to me. If you don't, don't bother trying to argue with me," Jungkook said.
Namjoon pursed his lips. He stayed silent for a long time, before finally nodding.
"I have it," he said slowly. "If you're going to go, are you going to be alone?"
"No. Taehyung is going to be with me."
"Okay."
Jungkook forced a smile to his face. "I'm sorry that I'm going against you."
Namjoon shook his head.
-------
It was the middle of the night. Jungkook had expected Namjoon to just text him the address, but instead Namjoon was here with him and Taehyung as well.
He had wrote out the address on a piece of paper, insisting that it was better to have a physical copy than just on their phones.
"You never know," he said.
Taehyung nodded.
ADDRESS: 259-7, YEOMCHANG-DONG, GANGSEO-GU, SEOUL
Namjoon read the address out loud. Taehyung and Jungkook immediately snapped to attention.
"He lives in Seoul?" Taehyung asked.
"Apparently." Namjoon sighed.
Jungkook cleared his throat. "Okay, that is our first lead. We have to go there now."
"I'm going with you," Namjoon suddenly said.
"You don't have to," Taehyung said. Jungkook shushed him.
Namjoon shrugged. He didn't want to let them know, but this kind of a thing had been playing in his head as well. It was impossible for him not to think about it. Everything must have happened for a reason.
"I will."
Jungkook smiled. Really smiled. Like, it looked genuine and everything. Namjoon hadn't seen that in a long time.
"I'll drag Jimin with me. Yoongi hyung and Hoseok hyung will never find out," Taehyung said.
"You sure?" Namjoon asked.
"Yeah."
------
"Okay, where do we go?" Taehyung asked.
Everything had gone according to plan. The four of them had slipped away from the studio. There was a chance that Yoongi or Hoseok would notice that they were missing and raise an alarm, but the coast was clear so far. The two of them were busy in their individual studios.
"We have to get to Gangnam Police Station." Namjoon said.
After about five minutes of walking, they reached the police station. The 360 bus came quickly and the four got on and settled near the back.
"Where next?" Jungkook asked Namjoon in a low voice.
"Get off at Nodeul Station, then a 605."
Jungkook exchanged a look with Jimin. Thank the heavens that Namjoon was here. He actually had some idea where they were going.
--------
Everything went as Namjoon said. They found themselves walking on Gonghong-daero, towards Annyangcheon-ro.
"Will he be there?" Jimin asked suddenly during their walk.
Taehyung shrugged. Nobody else made any reply.
The house came into view. It looked ordinary, with generic windows and an unoriginal front door. They had probably passed lots of houses which looked exactly like it. It was disheartening looking at it.
The others hesitated a bit, but Jungkook ran forward and pressed the doorbell. Namjoon clutched his arm and Taehyung and Jimin held onto each other.
The door revealed to open a middle-aged woman that was definitely not Dang Seung.
"What do you want?" she asked.
Jungkook's face had turned red and he was at a loss for words. Namjoon took this opportunity to step forward.
"Excuse me, but do you know someone named Dang Seung?"
The woman scrunched her face in confusion.
Jungkook unfroze, after seeing Namjoon manage to ask her one question.
"He was on the shorter side. Black hair, but he often dyed it brown. He looked..."
"I don't know who you're talking about it," she said, somewhat annoyed.
"Do you have a picture?" Jimin asked.
Namjoon shook his head. Jungkook shrugged.
"Shit, we forgot that," Taehyung said.
"I tell you what," the woman said. "There's an office on Gyeyang-gu. They can answer these questions of yours."
They looked at each other. It seemed like they didn't have any other choice.
"Alright, thanks."
Jungkook tried not to show his disappointment as they came down from the front door. All this work down the drain now.
"Let's not give up," Jimin said. "Let's head to that office that she was talking about."
Jungkook nodded. What else was he supposed to do?
