The blizzard stopped and the snow the world outside my window looked like a snowglobe. Out in my barren flower garden i saw a white butterfly perched on a mound of snow, i watched it flap it's wings and get close to the window. I was in awe that it was alive.

"Aren't you a resilient thing."I opened my window to let butterfly in, it landed on my hand. Carefully i moved to the vase of roses in the kitchen. The butterfly crawled off my hand and onto the red petals.

"There you go, this is better than the snow outside ,right?" i spent hours watching the butterfly go from flower to flower and flying into the air. The pattern on it's wings was very different from a normal butterfly with specks of blue and green. The sun had set behind the horizon and the clock struck midnight. "Goodnight strange butterfly, hopefully i'll see you in the morning."

The morning brought a wave of relief as my school had been canceled from the snowfall. There was a knock on my front door, I threw on a shirt to go see who it was. I opened the door to see a blonde man who half frozen from the cold. "Oh shit , dude come in before you catch your death."

"Thank you, i've been walking for hours trying to find someone to help."

"What happened to you, you're all cut up and bruised to hell."

"Last night I was on my way home and I hit a snowbank, I can't remember anything after that other than waking up nowhere near my car and freezing. "

I listened to the man talk and set a mug of hot chocolate on the table in front of him as an attempt to warm him up. "What's your name by the way?"

" Erin james perhonen, it's no use saying my last name. Nobody can pronounce it."

" where are you from, I've never seen you before."

" originally i'm from Finland but i recently moved here."

Erin took his jacket which had been covered in melting snow and mud. I just noticed his eyes were two different colours. "You have two different eyes, that's really cool."

" yeah i guess so, i always hated it. My mother said blue and green always go together, but I never thought so."

"I guess it's all on opinion, if you ask me nothing is wrong with being a little different." his platinum hair fell in front of his eyes until he moved it aside.

"My mother was right i do need a haircut."

Oddly enough that made me laugh, Erin looked out if the kitchen window and watched the snow fall on the ground.

" winter has always been my favourite month. You get to see the world like an unpainted canvas and spring is the finished result."

"I'm a fan of autumn, do you know what else happened when you wrecked."

He pressed his palm to his head and closed his eyes.

" what time is it."

"Almost nightfall, we've been talking all day. You can have the spare room, i can't let you go out at night it's too dangerous."

"Thank you for the offer, i have to get home."

He pulled his jacket back on and said his goodbye, then he left . i remembered the butterfly i saved and went to go look for it. It was outside again and fluttering around the snowy garden.

"How did you get outside? I guess you like the garden, I'll see you in the morning."

I couldn't sleep that night all i did was stare at the clock and watch the snow outside of my window. I wonder if Erin made it home, hopefully he didn't get hurt any worse ..
