Jade

I woke up to my phone chiming, indicating that I received a text from someone. As I unlocked my phone and looked at who the person was, my heart skipped a beat. I smiled, gazing down at the long good morning paragraph sent by the only love of my life.

If only that would happen.

Once again I closed my eyes as the alarm went off for the fourth time but the comfort you get from sleeping was long gone and that was my cue to drag my body out of the bed. I let out a sigh as my feet landed onto the wooden floor.

I clumsily walked to the bathroom, passing by a mirror to see my hair — a few strands — tied into a loose ponytail, while the rest of my hair was sprawled out on my shoulder.

I huffed and made my way to the bathroom. I took a quick shower and put on my uniform.

Considering it was my first day of school, I didn't want to look like a wild animal who just escaped from the zoo. So, I decided to grace my lips with some light lip gloss and my eyes with mascara.

I left my hair down and right when I was about to step out of my room, my mom called out my name, calling me downstairs for breakfast.

I climbed down the stairs and offered my mom a small smile. "Good morning, mom."

"Morning." She took a sip from her cup of coffee, smiling back at me.

"What do you want to eat for breakfast, hun?" She asked.

"Oh mom, you know I'm never in the mood to eat this early in the morning."

"I'm aware of that but it's the first day of your new school and no way am I letting you go without anything in your stomach. You should know that eating in the morning is really-" I cut off my mom as I realized she was not going to stop with her lectures anytime soon.

"Alright mom, I get it. Let's just leave, yeah? I don't wanna run late." I waved my hand in the air, motioning toward the door.

She shook her head at me but agreed anyway.

I turned on the radio as I got into the car and then we left for school. The car came to a halt as a tall building stood in front of us.

"Good luck! Make friends, okay?" I nodded my head and kissed her cheek.

I grabbed my backpack and got out of the car. I observed the people and the place around me. Another year of facing hardships, I thought to myself.

Entering the hallway of the school, I took out the piece of paper that I had noted my locker number on. My schedule and school map were given to me by the school administration when my mom paid the fee so I didn't have to get them at the time.

Once I found my locker, I zipped my bag open and took out some essentials I brought to put inside my locker. After I got done with it, I grabbed the map and made my way to Homeroom.

As I set foot inside the class, I was met with the sight of many unfamiliar faces. Not much people were there but the ones present were busy doing some random stuff and therefore, no one acknowledged my presence for which I was beyond grateful.

I was definitely not an introverted girl but I didn't like it when the wll the attention was on me. It always made me uncomfortable.

I went to the back of the class and perched myself on a chair by the window. A few moments later, most of the empty chairs were no longer available as more pupils started to enter the class.

I looked out of the window at the people entering the building and some parking their vehicles in the parking lot, as I waited for the bell to ring.

I was in too early, I guess.

I suddenly turned my head and looked up as someone tapped on my shoulder.

"Well, we meet again." He grinned, a row of even pearly white teeth on display.

"Hello to you too." I faked a smile. I had never been a morning person and talking to a person whom I just encountered last night wasn't helping it either.

"This seat is mine. You should sit somewhere else." He pointed to the chair I was currently sat on.

"Did you buy this chair or something because I can't see your name written on it? Or wait, am I just going blind?" I tried my best not to sound rude.

If he has a good sense of humor, he will probably just take it sarcastically, I thought to myself.

Noah raised an eyebrow and then crossed his arms, smirking.

"A feisty one, I see." He nodded his head.

Before I could reply to him, a voice from somewhere behind him interrupted. "Bro, that's the most stubborn person to ever exist you're dealing with. She won't give in so you should probably back off." I recognized that voice. Even without looking at his face, I could tell who the voice belonged to.

By now, the class had quietened and most of the eyes were on us.

Great.

So fucking great.

"You know her, Xander?" Noah asked and I looked at Xander. He waved at me and offered me a small smile. I waved back at him.

"Yeah. Remember when I joined the dojo? I met her there." Xander explained and I spoke as soon as he finished answering, almost cutting him off.

"Well, coming back to what we were talking about, you're not gonna get to sit here today. End of discussion." He smirked at me and took a seat on a chair next to mine.

"I have a better option." He stated and I arched my brow, questioning him.

"Since you wanna sit on my seat so bad, why don't you let me sit there and you can sit on my lap?" He grinned, showing off his teeth. At this, a few snickers could be heard.

"Thanks but no thanks. I'd rather die than to sit on your lap." He let out a chuckle.

The teacher entered the class and everyone took their seats in a fraction of a second. Noah responded with a quick "We'll see 'bout that", before turning to the front of the class.

The teacher introduced himself and took our attendance. Since there were a few other newbies too, he made us play this little fun game where we got to know each other. It was quite fun.

After the argument earlier this morning, I honestly couldn't predict what this school year had in store for me.

Let's just hope for the best, Jade. I reassured myself.
