Breredith: A thousand and one nights

Starkid homecoming.
The morning before the performance

Brian Holden was smiling. He was really excited for Starkid homecoming. He was going to meet people he had not seen for a long time, but he was also very nervous. He was planning on proposing to Meredith through the song A thousand and one nights. They had not really practised together, but Brian had practised as much as he can when Meredith was not at home. The only ones that knew of the plan were Dylan, because he had to agree with the idea. Nick, because he directed the show and Joey, because he was one of Brians's best friends and helped him to come up with the idea.

Meredith was also really looking forward to Starkid homecoming. The starkids have had a few rehearsals and they all went pretty well. Meredith was walking to the changing room when Nick walked to her and said: "Meredith, I want to make a change in the plans. I want to add the song A thousand and one nights at the end of the show as a surprise for the fans, but Dylan has to leave quickly, so you can sing the sing with Brian, is that okay for you?"
"Oh okay, which Brian?" asked Meredith. "The crazy one," replied Nick smiling. Meredith raised her eyebrow, because a lot of starkids fit in the category crazy, especially both Brians. "Your boyfriend," comfirmed Nick.

Meredith was actually quite surprised  by this change in the show. She was happy they added this song in, because Meredith liked the song but she had not sung it for a long time and she suddenly remembered that Brian had never sung the song. "Does Brian know the lines?"asked Meredith "Yes don't worry about it and be nice for Brian. He may be a bit nervous because he never sang the song before but he is looking forward to sing it," Meredith smiled at Nick, but Nick had already walked away. Nick had a a very busy day today. Meredith thought a bit about it. She admitted that Brian was a great singer, but they had never really sung something together, except for some stupid songs they had made up on spot.  Would it work without having practise? She was afraid to disappoint Brian or the fans. Suddenly Meredith realized it was a perfect chance to sing something together with her boyfriend and she should not worry about it because she had the feeling that Brian would be capable of it.

The afternoon before the performance

Brian Holden and Joey Richter were alone. standing in front of the stage. The rest were preparing themself in the changing room, but Joey wanted to make sure Brian was ready.
"You have the ring," asked Joey.
Brian nodded
"Do you know the lines of the song?," Brian nodded again. "Do you have your nerves under control?" "No, absolutely not,"muttered Brian
"Listen, Brian, you have been on stage a hundred times, just think of this show as any others,"
Joey petted Brian on the shoulder
"But what if I forget to propose to her or what if she says no?"
"She won't say no. Meredith loves you and you won't forget your words because uhm.. "
Joey tried to come up with a good argument. "You know what?  Just practice to me one time, Then you know what to do,"Joey regretted immediately what he had said but Brian thought the idea was not that bad. The starkids had done weirder things before.
Brian went on one knee and looked Joey deep in eyes and they both tried not to burst out laughing.  "Joseph Michael Richter do you want to marry me?,"  Exact at that moment Meredith came in. She looked at them and laughed.  Brian put very quickly the ring away and prayed Meredith had not noticed
Brian's eyes panicked a bit and Joey tried to fix the situation. "No, Brian, I do not want to marry you otherwise you're cheating on your beautiful wife over there," Brian sent Joey a very angry glare and Joey realized his mistake and tried to change the subject. "Are you ready for the show Meredith?" Meredith luckily had not paid attention to Joey's words and said "If you stop acting like 5 years old and come downstairs in 5 minutes. We're ready for the show!"

Brian walked to Meredith and said "Sorry, sorry . We were just fooling," Meredith just smiled at him. Brian was reminded once more how beautiful Merediths smile was and he was very lucky he got to see it so often.  "Brian, you don't need to apologise. I know that you and Joey act like 5 years old 24/7 I'm used to it," Brian let out a sigh of relief. Brian was now sure that Meredith did not suspect anything if she had considered this as his normal behaviour.
