Selena's P.O.V
As I walked out of the automatic doors to the hospital, the question as to why I was with Zayn rather than my family ran around in my head. For what reason does my existence even have for only being seen and heard by Zayn? One thing though, being away from my family makes it easier as I don't have to see the pain, hurt and hope on my family's faces as they wait for me to wake up. I tried to go back to them, twice, but it was no use. I don't know what I'm supposed to do? I'm an idiot for thinking that what they show in the movies would work. One can only hope I guess.
I scanned the carpark for the black Cadillac Sedan before laying my eyes on it, Zayn was standing, leaning against his driver side door with a blunt held between his lips.
I appeared in front of the bonnet of his car and cleared my throat. His head snapped in my direction, sucking in the drug and releasing it as he looked away.
"I didn't know you smoked?" I stated curiously. He removed the blunt from his lips and held it between it between his thumb and fore finger.
He blew out the smoke once again, "Only when I'm stressed." he mumbled. I frowned at his answer, I know he's referring to me, I was causing him stress. But what else am I meant to do? I can't just click my fingers and go away. Selfishly, I'll admit I don't want to leave him, I feel connected to him somehow. The way that he was the only one I could hold, I couldn't help but feel like it means something. But what?
"How come you left?" I asked, walking around to the passenger side and resting my chin on my folded arms on the roof of the car. I was staring at his back, seeing his neck and the way the black leather jacket shaped his shoulders perfectly, the leaf tattoo that was sticking out from his collar... this may sound weird but his rear view was quite attractive.
He put out his blunt by flicking the ends before putting the remains back into a silver metal casing and tucking it away in his black skinny jeans pocket. He sighed and opened his door, putting one leg in then sitting inside.
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, why is he quiet all of a sudden? I got into the passenger seat and waited for him to respond. He just sat there, staring into the abyss ahead of him.
"I met your parents the night they brought you to the hospital, long story short she warned me to stay away because she thought I may have something to do with it." He slowly turned his face to me, his lips pursed into a small tight sympathetic smile. "So when I saw your family, I left because I felt guilty that they're waiting for their daughter who's actually just right here with me when you should be with them." He finished, his voice soft, regretful, his kind eyes showing me guilt.
In that moment I noticed how light his eyes are, they were brown but with specs of hazel. They were mesmerizing and I couldn't seem to take my eyes away.
Shit.
I'm staring...
I broke the gaze and looked down at the gear stick before replying to him.
"This wasn't your fault, you don't have to feel guilty," I started, I slowly met his gaze once more, a pain written on his face but still watched me carefully as I tucked a piece of my hair behind my ear. "If I hadn't drank so much that night I probably wouldn't be in this situation right now, especially if I knew I'd be flying out the next day. As for my mom," I let out a light scoff, "she is very..."
"Intense?" He grinned and I smiled nodding in agreement.
"Yes, intense. She just wants what's best for me, my last boyfriend wasn't the best person to have in your life especially when you're completing your final exams. Ever since then she has made sure I made up for my exams over the summer and I got the credits I needed to graduate." I explained and Zayn didn't say a word, he simply just listened as I talked.
