                                                                                           -Jenny-

"Live like each other for a day" I repeat putting my hands on my hips thinking it over.

"That's what I said" Dick says calmly standing there like there is something up his ass.

If I do this he might get off my case. He will learn personal things about me, and I don't know what I will do after that.

If I don't Richard will probably pester me.

"I will have to think this over" I simply say thinking back to my mental pro/con list.

Richard doesn't move like he has spontaneously turned into a statue.

Time stretches for what feels like forever till Richard moves again.

"I will give you time" He replies stiffly suddenly a ringtone is blaring in the quiet living room breaking the tension.

Dick reaches into his suit pocket before excusing himself and leaving to talk to whoever is calling him.

If I ran out the back door would he catch me?

Why would he want to?

Suddenly a hand is waved across my face and I look up to see Richard standing there.

I step back "I will try to give you an answer by tomorrow" I say trying to put space between us.

Richard seems to take a hint and remains in his spot. That's something maybe he's learning.

"I need to go" Richard says making his way to the front door. "I will await your answer"

With that he leaves without another word.

Looking through the shelves of snacks at the local gas station.

"Found it!" I hear Mordecai yell victoriously after searching for about 20 minutes he rushes over carrying the small childish beverage.

"Why do they call it Bug juice?" I blurt pondering about it.

Mordecai just shrugs his black jean jacket nearly falling off his narrow shoulders.

Movie nights is typically how me and my best friend spend are weekend.

It originated in elementary school our parents were friends. Our moms would talk at the kitchen as me and Mordecai gorged on bug juice and sugary foods to our hearts content.

Even when life happened we wanted to keep the tradition. It's more routine now, but it's our thing.

Now that we don't depend on our parents for our surgery habits we now head to the Safe haven gas station.

"You pick the worst snacks" Mordecai whines seeing the almond joy in my hands "Why don't you get a good snack like Twix"

"You look like a walking Twix so I wouldn't be talking, and I stand by my choices fucko" I say trying to maintain a serious face.

Looking over to my best friend he was hunched over laughing with no sounds escaping his mouth. Upon the sight of him looking like a fish on land I laugh harder nearly falling into the candy shelf.

"Can you buy these? I forgot my wallet" Mordecai asks holding up a Twix and his red bug juice.

I nod my hand overflowing with snacks. Making my way to the freezers I pick up a blue bug juice and then head to the counter.  Shoving everything that my overflowing arms contained on the counter.

Mordecai placed his stuff with mine.

After paying for everything I grab the bag and we head to the door.

I hold out the 2 movie cases out in front of me as if I my mind will instantly decide which to watch based on how far it is from my sight.

Mordecai plucks a case out of my fingers examining it before putting it in the dvd player with a smile.

He then plops down on the couch with a crunch.

I give him a look and he pretends like nothing happened by taking a long swig of his red bug juice.

Getting to my feet I saunter over to my friend putting my hands on my hips. Like a mother about to scold her child.

"What was that?" I ask looking down at my friend.

"What was what?" Mordecai asked innocently his floppy black hair falling on his face. "I didn't hear anything" he shrugged

"I don't remember getting anything crunchy" I say not removing eye contact

A glimps of guilt falls on Mordecai's features before his face becomes more neutral.

He's hiding something I know it. Before I can ask he untucks his gray shirt and junk food heaven falls out from his clothing.

My mouth is agape and i just stare at the array of candy and chips that lay around Mordecai's frame.

"I have snacks" he says weakly motioning around him with a soft uncomfortable smile.

"Stolen snacks" I retaliate "How did I not notice?" I say out-loud to no one in particular

"It was quite easy I tuck my shirt in and wear a b-" He starts to explain "How long have you been stealing?" I interrupt still slack jawed.

"Awhile"

"How long?" I ask again not excepting that answer.

Mordecai turns his gaze to his shoes as if they magically became the most fascinating thing on the planet. "2 years" he mutters.

It goes silent the air feels like I'm inhaling sand.

"Have you stolen from me?" I blurt out the question immediately regretting the words trying to magically shove the words back in or rewinding time all together.

A hurt expression falls on my best friends features his eyes become glossy and he stands and immediately trampling over the stack of food he doesn't look back as he leaves leaving behind destruction of sugary snacks.
