It's been a month. A month without Fred. If the month hurts this bad and is this lonely, what about the years to come? I looked at George who was sleeping next to me. I brushed some of the hair away from his face.

It's also been a month since we lost George. The real George, anyway. And we understand, it just adds to the hurt that's already there.

With a heavy sigh, I moved away from him carefully and headed downstairs. His mother, sister, and two of his brothers were already down here. "Morning dear," Molly greeted, sending a sad smile my way. I returned it, going to take a seat between Ginny and Charlie and greeting Ron quietly.

Molly slid a cup of tea my way and I sent her a tired, yet grateful, smile. Ginny leaned her head against my shoulder and sighed. I simply reached over and draped my arm over her shoulders. In response, she wrapped her arms around my torso and buried her face in my side. I recognised the subtle sign that she was hurting and tightened my hold on her.

Charlie glanced over at the two of us, eyes clouding over sadly and losing the small grin he'd had when I came down. I frowned when I noticed this but didn't say anything. That was the thing about Charlie. You could tell he was hurting, obviously the whole family is hurting, but if you tried to comfort him or acknowledge his pain, he'd clam up.

"How is he this morning?" Molly asked quietly, taking a seat next to Ron. The other three each turned to look at me (in Ginny's case, she looked up at me). I sighed. "I don't know. He was still asleep when I left. But... I'm worried about him."

Molly nodded and sighed too. "I am too. He's never been able to cope with things like this..." she trailed off, her eyes filling with tears as she added, "He always r-relied on Fred to help him."

My heart dropped and Ginny lurched away from me to scramble upstairs. I turned to watch her escape. The other three had watched her as well, concern written all over their faces.

"She did too," Ron added quietly. I turned to look back at the younger boy. "And you?" He shrugged. "I dunno. Always kinda depended on my friends." That answer was just as sad as Molly's reply. Harry was off trying to cope with all that's happened, basically taking a break from the wizarding world for the moment. Hermione was trying to get her parent's memories of her back and she's been gone since the battle as well.

"Well, if you need a friend, you've got plenty in this house," I told him, staring at him until he accepted my words. I jumped as someone took Ginny's seat next to me and reached out to place a hand on mine. I looked to my right and seen George.

I immediately put on a bright smile and hoped it would bring a smile to his face. It worked, but only slightly. The dim smile on his face was barely even a shadow of his normal one. My heart broke again and I let him lean against me for support.

"Morning George," Molly chimed in, smiling warmly at her son. "Morning," he replied quietly, and it was directed at the whole table. George looked around and met the eyes of everyone at the table and the haunted, empty look in them left me with icy fear. Not of him, but of what he was feeling. I knew that feeling all too well. I'd seen that look in my own eyes way too many times. So to see it in his and knowing how horrible he feels, the pain he's experiencing...

I shook myself out of those thoughts. I needed to be strong for him.

"Can I get you anything?" I asked, rubbing my thumb over the back of his hand. He turned to me with the haunted eyes and gave a hollow smile. "A kiss?" I rolled my eyes playfully. Clearly he was still joking, but the smile never reached his eyes. It was gonna take a while for that.

"Maybe later," I replied, ignoring the looks his mother and two brothers were giving us. The smile may not have reached his eyes, but their smiles certainly did, if only for a few seconds. "I'm serious, George." He looked tempted to make a joke like Sirius used to, but figured it'd be too painful. Sirius, though he wasn't related to any of us, was important to all of us and it shook us and devastated us when he was killed.
