There was coughing, and then eyes.
My waist.....
I looked down expecting some gruesome wound, surrounding by soaking blood.
I saw exactly what I had expected.
And my only shirt, ruined! I remember when I had replaced my itchy leaf dress to these clothes when I was five. Some campers had left their whole campsite, scared off by Earl.
Sure, Earl can be scary when he's grumpy, but any other time, he's as sappy as a teddy bear.
Quite literally, actually....
The pain drew me away from my thoughts, my few moments of peace. What had happened? I went to touch it, only to draw my hand away, soaked in blood.
Is this what dying felt like?
Alone, practically paralyzed onto the sandy ground, bleeding to death.
Well, not alone, unfortunately.
On my right was the very despicable creature who had stolen me!
What nerve he had, stealing me from my home!
What nerve he had, yelling at me!
What nerve he had, pushing me onto the seat like that!
What nerve he had, saving my life.....
I still remember when I had, well, died. I can still feel his lips on mine as he blew into them. What other weird things do humans do? Next it'll licking your toes! But however weird it was, it had worked. And, well, I can't say I didn't enjoy it...
So now, as I gazed into his face, I can't help feeling this electric feeling in my chest. Close to the big red blotch of blood, slowly expanding as I breathed.
Oh man, it hurt.
Bad.
Looking for something, anything, to distract me, I found myself staring into the sky, which was at the moment displaying a wild showcase, full of stars.
The moon was close this time of night.
My fingers felt cool under it, fingering through the thin grained sand.
Sand...
Where were we exactly?
I don't want to know. Looking into his countenance, serene as he slept on, gave me all the comfort I was looking for. Look at me. I'm acting exactly like Constellation when he had met that doe, Feather. What was wrong with me?
Was I going crazy?
I let out a gasp.
The pain came back, stronger than ever.
I always wanted to die in my sleep, old and wrinkled, staring out into the sunset, leaning against Willow...
Why did it have to be slow?
Why...

I woke up to a gasp.
Instantly, I jumped to my right, looking straight into her emerald green eyes.
"Y-you" she coughed, sending the red farther on her red shirt. We needed to get out of here.
"Shhh sweetie, it's okay." I told her, stroking her hair out of her face.
I opened the now filthy bag, bringing a grape CapriSun out. This is what we were now reduced to....
Pathetic.
After having troubles opening the clear straw container, I squirted two thirds of it into her mouth, smiling when I missed and hit her nose instead. But my smile mainly came through because of her light hearted laugh.
After flattening the whole bag with my hands, looking like the guy on "How Animals Eat Their Food", and into my mouth, I forced my aching body to pick her up and carry on.
The sooner we got there, the sooner I got to sleep. I couldn't sleep now, when she was on the verge of dying. Good reason, right?
"Let's go, lazy." I playfully whispered in her ear, smiling once again as her annoyed smile came out. She had really white clean teeth for someone who probably didn't know what a toothbrush was. How did she keep up with hygiene?
So I walked on, stumbling occasionally due to my exhausted legs. I could hear them complaining, saying, "Hey! We deserve a raise!"
Yep, I was officially going crazy.
Pathetic.

I saw lights.
Was I seeing things?
No, there was really a cabin in the middle of the desert. Weird, but who cares! We were going to live! I ran towards it, probably looking like a lunatic. Hopefully they won't call the police.
Reaching the porch, I practically kicked down the door knocking on it.
I really hope they don't call the cops...
A shadow was seen from inside, hovering towards the window. Probably seeing her in my arms, unconscious and half dead, the figure ran towards the door. It opened, revealing an old man, pointing a massive double barrel shotgun directly at my nose. Did this guy have a problem with noses or something?
"Who-" he started to say, but noticing our "condition", he simply pulled us inside, looking suspiciously to the left and right outside before coming back inside.
"What happened to you two?" He asked us in a surprised tone.
"No time." I told him, my voice cracked and raspy from no water. "She needs help, and bad!"
He took one look at her, one look at her red blemish, and hurriedly ran to a bathroom, bringing out a huge medic bag.
"Thankfully for you two, I was a doctor," he told me, going right to work.
There was moving hands, and then a working tool.
