When my friend and I first started on this insane quest of waking people up, we had no idea what to expect, what would happen. We just knew that it was our duty to do something about it. We couldn't just sit around and do nothing, allowing the mysterious forces to control our lives in the way they see fit.
I know what you are thinking. Isn't that the whole point of religion? No, it is not.
There is one significant difference between these two forces, although both might seem mysterious and beyond understanding to you. However, you choose to follow certain religious beliefs, you are allowed the luxury of free will, while this is not the case with us now. We are being controlled, without any possibility for us to exert our free will.
I don't want to go into any religious debates right now, so I'll leave it here. After all, we have more pressing matters than discussing someone's religious beliefs. At this point, they don't matter, nothing matters but escaping this hamster wheel we have found ourselves on.
Anyway, our first attempts to bring home the truth about our reality or the lack thereof, to the people didn't go so well. They assumed that we were a religious sect that we wanted something from them and refused to believe that our only goal was to help.
When you think about it, it's an understandable reaction since, in this day and age, nothing is free. People always ask for something in return, and the fact that we didn't expect anything from them made them even more suspicious of us. They started thinking we were insane since that was the only explanation they could think of that would explain our odd behavior.
Yet, even they were able to note the odd happenings around the world. It all started with small glitches. An illogical decision here or there, senseless violence from time to time and so on, nothing major. However, soon enough, it all escalated.
Have you ever consider what we now perceive as normal? Did you ever have the chance to ponder how much we have gotten used to horrible things that should've made us disgusted, angry, ready to change the world?
I mean, how can we consider murder to be normal? How can we stand by and watch our fellow humans suffer and die, saying we couldn't help them knowing full well that we could. We just don't want to get involved to take on the responsibility that we don't consider our own to carry.
Over the last few years, 'reality' has been so shifty, and so many horrible things have happened, and yet no one noticed anything odd. It was 'normal'. How can the destruction of one's planet and the murder of living beings be natural?
However, if this were a dream (as it is), then it would all make sense. Dreams often start with some logical postulate and spiral into nonsense soon enough. Don't you think that is what's happening to all of us in this odd world that we have found ourselves in?
Anyway, I digress. Although suspicious at first, people did start to wonder. After all, they were able to see, as well as I am sure you can, that there is something that doesn't seem right about the world we live in. It's full of contradictions that make no sense.
That is how we were able to get a few hesitant followers. They didn't believe us completely, but they were doubtful enough about 'reality' that they decided to hear us out. We even started a club, of sorts, called Awakening to Reality, to reach more people and to finally find out the truth.
What we have found so far are many different opinions. Some are overly religious, seeing this world as Hell in which we are all paying for our sins while other theories vary from alien test subjects to a reaction to a chemical accidentally released into the environment.
Although many people are more inclined to believe us, we still don't have any definite answers to what, or who is behind this. If I am being honest, nowadays, I am inclined to believe that this whole experience is manmade. I mean, who else could be as cruel as to create this kind of world where we not only destroy our home but each other as well.
However, there is enough proof for the possibility of aliens being behind all this. Their advanced technology might be capable to cause this kind of change in the very fabric of our reality. Shifting property of what we call reality is another proof that there must be someone tampering with it. How else would you explain the opposing phenomena occurring in the world? People saying one thing and doing the opposite? Humans claiming they love each other and then hurting each other?
Our little group is getting bigger, but that doesn't seem to help us solve our dilemma. Who did this to us, and why? The only solutions that make sense to me are that this was some kind of sick experiment done by a scientist who valued scientific facts more than human lives or sanity. The scientist I am imagining, could be human or alien, it doesn't matter.
The second solution that makes sense to me is that this is an unintended side effect of some greater event. And finally that this was a way to save our sanity from having to accept something even more horrible than what we are faced with, although I am not sure what that could be.
Even the philosophers in our midst are unsure how all of this is even possible in the first place, but they all agree that we know less about reality than we think we do, we always have. It was just easier for us to delude ourselves into the safety of belief that everything made sense, that there was a rational explanation for everything.
But when you think about it, you can't help but wonder if that is true. From everything I have told you now and before, you must come to the same conclusion as I have. Things are not as simple as we make them out to be. There is no good versus evil, right versus wrong. The world, reality if you will is much more complex than that. It is a never-ending grey area that we are afraid to explore.
I don't what to go into too much detail because we are all fixed in our opinions on these topics. We believe ourselves to be good or bad but fail to see that most of us spend our lives in the grey area. Why can't that be the same for this dream? If dreams reflect our reality, as we said earlier, than it makes sense that they would be filled with grey areas and impossible to say what the right thing to do is.
Shifty reality means shifty dreams. However, what if that also means shifty humans. What if you and I are never the same? What if we are forever changing, flowing until there is nothing left of the baby that was once us. Isn't that what scientists say about our cells? Couldn't that be true of our minds as well?
That makes me wonder. Am I doing the right thing by helping you see the truth? Are my intentions pure? Or am I making the biggest mistake in my life, and our awakening will cause us to suffer and die? What if my pure intentions aren't as pure as I think? What if.
But if we don't search for the truth, if we don't see behind the veil, what's the point? Shouldn't we know our options to be able to embrace the one we prefer? Let's awaken and if being awake causes us pain, we can always go back to sleep, no matter how distorted this dream world is, we can go back to what we know.
