Chapter 2: Uncle Moony and Diagon Alley

By the time, her birthday rolled around Kathryn was basically vibrating from excitement, because Uncle Moony was picking her up and in a few days they could go see Sirius.

Just days before her 11th birthday, which is July 31, while she was making breakfast the doorbell rang. Kathryn knew exactly who it was.

"Get the door, Kathryn."

"Yes, sir," She said quickly, wanting to see Moony.

Kathryn quickly plated everything and put it on the table, then went to get the door.

She opened the door and there was a man standing there. He had brown hair that was flecked with gray (she knew some of it was because of her); a face that was that marred with scars, and kind brown eyes that had flecks of amber in them. His name is Remus Lupin a.k.a. Moony.

"Moony!" she squealed, launching herself at him.

"It's good to see you too, pup," He chuckled as he caught her and saw her shirt. "Are you ready to go?"

"Yes, Moony. I just need to tell Aunt Petunia," Kathryn said as she walked back inside.

"Aunt Petunia, Remus is here."

Petunia turned from where she was standing at the counter. "Good, go," she asked.

As Remus and Kathryn walked toward the playground, so he could give her her Hogwarts letter she asked him, "So how are we getting to Diagon Alley this time?"

"We are going to take the Knight Bus." He replied as they sat on the swings and he handed her an envelope.

"Seriously, Moony," Kathryn said with a deadpan look on her face.

"Yes," Remus said gleefully. He knew how much Kathryn hated the Knight's Bus. She supposed this was revenge for covering him with honey and feathers.

She stared at the envelope for a minute in a daze. "Well, are you going to open it?" Remus asked her with a teasing grin on his face.

"Yes, I am." She shot back as she cracked the seal and took the letter out. It read:

HOGWARTS SCHOOL

of  WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY

Headmaster: Albus Dumbledore

(Order of Merlin, First Class, Grand Sorc., Chf. Warlock, Supreme Mugwump, International Confed. of Wizards)

Dear Ms. Potter,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.

Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31.

Along with it was the list of everything she would need. It read:

HOGWARTS SCHOOL

of WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY

UNIFORM

First-year students will require:

1. Three sets of plain work robes (black)

2. One pair of protective gloves (dragon hide or similar)
