My bare feet slap the ground as I think to myself. Then suddenly I feel a prick and cry out in pain! One thing I've learned about running away a lot is independence. If you get hurt there are no adults around to help you. If you get a burr that you thought for sure you left behind at Aunt Carol's house in your bare feet, there are no grown-ups around to help you pull them out. Tears formed in my eyes as i yanked the Burr out. I breathed heavily. sweat was coming down my face "You're a big girl now you can do this." I told myself as I made sure it came all out. This is how it was. there was no one around to help me. I was learning how to be on my own. I start walking again. The outside didn't care that I was 12 years old and on my own. The outside treated everybody the same. I came across a deer statue with running water. I looked up at it excitedly. And immediately went over to check it out and get a closer look.
The thing looked totally awesome. so realistic I definitely thought it was the coolest thing ever. but I had to keep moving on or else the police would catch me. I continued forward and it wasn't long until I made it towards a place called Best buy. The sun was hot on my face. And there were rocks on the ground that were getting stuck in my feet. Worst of all the sidewalk was hot and my feet were beginning to hurt. I decided to walk in the grass where it was cooler. BIG MISTAKE. The grass was overloaded with burrs. I shrieked in agony and fell onto the sidewalk. I had five or six burrs lodged into my bare feet. I started breathing heavily. "You can do this you can do this." I breathed as I started pulling them out.
"Oh man I hate this! why do I always have to run away? I hate this I hate this." I cried as I pulled each and every burr out of my feet. I wipe the tears from my face after what seems like forever. I decided not to walk in the grass again and began to look for an alternative way to get down to Best buy. I made my way down and head inside the store. The store was hella cool. I walk around barefooted, Just looking at pianos and other cool stuff too. I gotta feeling was playing on the radio as I happily explore the store. Employees were looking at me concerned. They were whispering to each other. I was beginning to tire of the place. And I had to keep moving on or else the police would get me. I headed outside and began walking away. I just made it about 10 ft away from the building when I saw them. THE POLICE!! THEY FOUND ME!
"Hello little girl. a lot of people are looking for you." An older policeman said smiling at me.
This was it. I was done for.
