It's a full moon. Nights when mystical creatures come to life, romance blooms but lives are lost as well.
The door bell rang, startling the girl, whose nerves were already on edge. Anxiously, she opened the door, and when she saw who was at the door, she sighed in relief.
"Victor you scared the shit out of me!" she exclaimed and turned, "For a second there, my heart stopped beating you know."
"Did it, honey?" she heard a gruff voice speak. 'That's not Victor's voice.' she thought.
No sooner had she turned back, she heard a loud thump and saw her boyfriend's body laying just a few steps away from where she stood. Screaming, she looked up, only to scream in higher pitch, when she saw the creature standing where her boyfriend stood not a minute ago.
The eyes were missing from their socket, leaving hollow space in their place, his nose was flattened, and the skin on the right cheek was hanging loosely while the other was marked with scars and stitches. His mouth was slightly turned up, giving the impression that he was smirking, but with his looks it was the creepiest smirk. Drool was dripping from his distorted mouth. He was slightly shorter than her dead boyfriend. Lifting his blood stained hand, he reached for her.
Screaming, she turned to run away from the hideous creature. But the next moment her heart was ripped off her body that fell on the floor. Indeed her heart stopped beating, not for a second but rather for eternity.

The door bell rang, echoing through the mansion. Startled, I woke up from my sleep spilling the popcorn on the bowl I had on top of my tummy. Sherlock Holmes was still on. I must have slept off while watching the series. I guess I'll have to re-watch the episode I missed. I can't believe I slept off while Benedict Cumberbatch is on screen! Shame on me!
The door bell rang again and I recalled the story Cameron had told just before they left me at home, all alone. It wasn't a new thing. Once a month, everyone leaves the house to go for meeting. When I was young Cameron and Emma were there to accompany me but now even they go to attend the so called 'meeting'. Not that I wanna go to a meeting. I bet it's gonna be boring and what will I even do there? On that note what are Cameron and Emma even doing there when they are only a year older to me.
The bell rang for the third time. To say that I wasn't scared would be a lie. The story Cameron told me kept on repeating on my head. I also knew that the person at the door wouldn't be a family member as it was too early for anyone to return home. Plus, if they were family, why would they ring the bell!
Getting off my comfy couch, I walked out of the lounge room, grabbing the umbrella near the door. From the lounge room till I reached the main door, lots of thoughts were going on my head and none of those ended good. 'Dang you, Aron', I cursed Cameron in my head.
Reaching the main door, I was holding the umbrella with my right hand and positioned myself in a way that I was ready to hit the one on the other side of the door if in case the person was a creep. With my left hand, I turned the knob and slowly opened the door.
"Sa...."
The umbrella dropped on the floor.
"Julius!" I exclaimed and jumped at him, giving him a bear tight hug. His signature, lemongrass smell engulfed me. I felt like I was finally home.
"I missed you" I mumbled against his shoulder and sniffled. Finally he was home after so long.
"I've missed you more, sweetheart." Julius stated, patting my back. I didn't let go of him for a while because I wanted to make sure that he was real and not a figment of my imagination.
Finally letting go, I spoke, "Let's get you in old man."
So, you must be wondering what is going on here. Long story short, when I was a baby, I was left at the doorstep of Julius Cornell and he adopted me. Heartless parents, I suppose. But now I don't blame them because I have Julius and the Wrefords, Cameron and Emma. Julius lived all alone with no family. He did mention that he was once married but his wife passed away and his daughter had left him to be with her then lover and now husband. Since then, there was no news about them.
Julius was and is the most loving father figure I have. It used to be only the two of us in our little cottage on the outskirts of town until I was ten. When I was ten, he had to leave for work abroad. And he knew he'll hardly be home. I even begged him to take me along with him but he said he couldn't and he came up with his brilliant idea, and no it wasn't sending me to a boarding school or send me for adoption or get foster parents.
He brought me to the Wrefords'. The Wrefords were good friend of his. David and his wife Rose were and are the kindest people I know. They welcomed me with open arms and always made me feel at home and it didn't take long for me to be a part of the Wrefords' family. But I don't think they are my foster family, I mean I wouldn't call them that but then again I don't know what our relationship would be called.
Anyways, let me tell you, their house is humongous. It's not a house but a castle I should say. And this castle is in the middle of a forest, which is the property of the Wrefords. They are freaking rich, by the way. The Wrefords mansion isn't the only in the area, there are other houses as well. It more like residential area with a community living together, if that makes sense, because I don't really get it but since I grew up here, I have come to accept whatever it is.
Anyways that's a short introduction of my life which will be continued. I'm Sabrina Cornell and this is my story. Welcome aboard mate!

This book is just fiction, so are the the names, place and events of the book. Please avoid stealing my work, that would make me sad. Your votes would be a treat and comments would be the cherry on top of the treat! ;)
Since this is a work of my imagination, I would suggest if you could leave logic and reasoning out the door because I am warning that some things won't even make sense.
With that being said hope you enjoy the story till the end but if you leave midway, thanks for dropping by!
