The night. Calm, beautiful... and mysterious. Full of life to those who take the time to notice it. Stars twinkling away against the pitch black sky. Shadows claiming the ground that it consumed. Finally... The Moon. A bright ball of light high in the sky. With that dark mysterious side that no one knows. Making it that bit more special to those who take the time to notice.
On a roof, in a village sat a young girl starting at the moon. Eyes consumed with the bright white light. Discolouring her iris's to a light shade of amber. A light breeze swaying across the roof, sweeping her hair to one side. Letting the orange fire whip and whirl about in waves like the ocean. Getting lost in thoughts as the night slipped away.
"Hey Solar... you up here again?" Asked a voice from just below the window of the girl, making her snap out of her thoughts as she glanced down.
"Yeah I'm up here if you wanna join" Replied Solar as she moved over to the side slightly, allowing for a boy who was a few years older than her to climb up onto the roof.
"So what are you doing up here again then?" Asked the boy as he laid down on the tiles of the roof, glancing to their side as he looked over at Solar.
"Enzo... do you ever feel a connection to something that you can't explain" Questioned Solar as she looked back over at Enzo, then taking another gander at the moon above her.
"Not really... why'd you ask?" Asked Enzo as he sat up slightly, using his hands to support his slouched position as he started to get curious what she was on about.
"I don't know... it's just... I don't know where I came from... I was left alone on your family's doorstep basically begging for a second chance... but why don't I remember anything... like my parents... if I had siblings or not... where I came from... and yet the only thing I seem to have a connection with... is the moon" Explained Solar as she looked back up at the moon, the faint glow outlining the tears trailing down her face.
"Oh Solar... is that really what you're thinking about?" Asked Enzo as he sat up properly, scooting a little closer towards Solar letting her rest on his shoulder as she cried a little.
"What else am I meant to think about?... I don't have anything else to think about" Replied Solar as she quickly wiped away the tears, trying to remain strong when the past was chipping away at her piece by piece.
"Maybe the future rather than the past" Said Enzo as he glanced down at Solar, who seemed to have gotten lost in thought once again.
"Solar" Said Enzo in a calm and gentle voice as he nudged his shoulder slightly, jolting Solar out of her thoughts as she looked up at Enzo slightly shocked.
"Do... do you see what I see?" Questioned Solar as she pointed dead ahead of her, into the darkness at the edge of a forest catching light glimpses of movement.
Enzo squinted his eyes narrowly, moving his head forward along with the squinting. Catching the same movement that Solar had caught in the darkness. Making both of them look at each other skeptically. Quickly Solar stood up on the roof. Ready to almost take off if it wasn't for Enzo grabbing her wrist to stop her.
"What are you doing?" Questioned Enzo as he stood up beside Solar, looking at her like she was out of her mind if she was going to investigate what it was.
"I just wanna check it out... it's no big deal" Replied Solar as she pulled her wrist out of Enzo's hand, crossing her arms over her chest as she stared at him waiting for a lecture out of his mouth.
"You can't be serious that you wanna go and investigate that thing which might just be an animal" Snapped Enzo as he gave her a slight disappointed look, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Look I'll be fine... if you're gonna get on my case about it... act like you don't know" Replied Solar as she turned to her side and took a running jump off the roof, landing kneeling on the ground as she glanced over her shoulder back up at Enzo.
Cautiously Solar took off running towards the forest. Hearing her footsteps crunching on the ground under her. Reaching the edge of the forest she took another glance over her shoulder. Seeing Enzo still standing on the roof of their house. Just before she turned back around and headed into the forest.
"For crying out loud Solar... I'd let you go on your own if I didn't care... now I've gotta come after you and make sure you don't do something stupid" Muttered Enzo as he left out a frustrated sigh, glaring over at the forest as he took a running off the roof of the building.
Following in the same steps as Solar. Reaching the edge of the forest and starting to search for Solar. Finding her crouched down behind a tree...
"Hey what is wrong with you?" Said Enzo in a low tone growl as he tapped Solar on the back on the head, just as he crouched down beside her.
"Shut up will you and look" Snapped Solar as she whacked Enzo in the arm as she pointed ahead of her, seeing a few people in blue robes and gold accents.
"What is going on?" Questioned Enzo as he tried to listen to what the people were saying, not being able to see who they were due to the hoods covering their faces.
"Will you be quite so we don't get caught" Snapped Solar as she glared at Enzo, wishing he hadn't decided to follow her out of the fact he was worried for her.
"I think it's a bit too late for that you two" Said a voice from behind the pair of them, making both of them look over their shoulder in horror.
Suddenly both of them felt hands clasp around their mouths. Feeling themselves become weak and tired. Seeing the light of the moon fade into darkness...
