"You okay, now?" London, on the screen asked.
It's already close to midnight yet they're still face-timing each other.
Paris smiled. "I am. After all, maybe it was an emergency. How about you?"
London got something from his back and showed it to Paris. It was a plane ticket and he was smiling while waving it on screen.
"What's that? Obviously, that's a plane ticket. I mean, what for?" She asked.
"I am flying to London in about five days. I recieved a call from a medical institution that I applied online a few months ago. And they just hired me!" He explained, the excitement was evident on his face.
Paris' smile fell down. "You're going to London, London?"
He nod. And even though they were miles apart, with just the screen connecting them, he felt Paris' sadness that were creeping down on her.
She managed to smile, "Goodluck." That was all she could say. What else should she say?
They didn't even got to see each other personally now that she's back in Manila. They promised to spare time just so they could meet even for a little while, but the news that she received was gradually erasing those hopes away. They had a connection and they both knew that it wasn't just a connection. It's love.
But what could she do? She's not a girlfriend but a part of her wishes that or maybe, her whole being.
London heaved a sigh, trying to get Paris' smile again. "I know. I know what you're thinking and I promised to see you before I'll fly."
"For what? I'm happy that you got what you want and there's no need for you to see me. I might just be a disturbance. And that's work. It's important."
"And you're important."
She smiled. "It's already midnight. I have to sleep now. Classes will be opened tomorrow."
"Goodnight. Sweetest dreams."
She looked at the screen, her eyes screaming something that even herself couldn't fathom. Was it longing? Fear of losing?
"Goodnight. Sleep tightly, London."
He knew something was off and he couldn't sleep knowing that.
"I maybe flying away and we'll be on the different sides of the world, but you have me. You have my heart and every pieces of it is your name: engraved and will never be forgotten."
"I'm okay, we should sleep now."
"Paris, you know that I like you and I am vocal about it since the day we met. Can't you see? Every drop of sweats on my head are making their best to make me look unpleasant in your eyes. The butterflies in my stomach are stabbing me from the insides; they're in a battle against me. The lumps in my throat are choking me, begging to be heard by you. Paris, I have gone through these shits and you still haven't gotten a clue. I am deeply and madly in love with you." He firmly stated, looking at her with all the sincerity he has. "I don't need an answer. I just want you to know it." He added.
She didn't say a single word. It felt like she had lost her tongue. All her blood went up to her face and once again, her stomach were grumbling with all the butterflies dancing around. Clearly, she felt the same way.
Instead of uttering a word. She smiled and went closer to the screen and kissed it- or should I say, she kissed him.
Actions speak louder than words and that was what she did.
"Goodnight, love." She softly mumbled.
