"Is she dead?"
"Why did you bring a girl here?"
"We're the lost boys we can't have a girl here."
My mind was a state of thick fog. The kind that you can't even see your own hand in. I couldn't force myself to open my eyes, though I knew I probably should. I couldn't tell where I was, but I wasn't in my bed. I knew I should be scared about that, but I was too tired to care. My body was being picked up by someone and I felt myself get sat up straight.
"Boys, be quiet. I'm going to try and wake her up."
I didn't recognize the voice, but soon after he spoke I was being shaken. The more I was shaken, the less foggy my mind became and I forced myself to try and speak, but all that came out of my mouth was a groan. I heard whispers. I couldn't make out what any of them were saying, but they all seemed to be the voices of young boys. My mind became more curious as I became more aware and I commanded myself to open my eyes.
Kneeling in front of me with his hands on my shoulders was a boy about my age, his eyebrows furrowed and his eyes were filled with concern.
"Aye, see, she's alive." He said turning to face the group of boys behind him. My eyes followed his gaze and were met with about a dozen boys of various ages and nationalities staring at me. I finally looked around and saw that we were in the woods and I was leaning up against a tree. There was a camp fire and going off behind the boys, I could barely feet it's heat on my face.
"Where am I?" I looked over at the one who was kneeling, "And who are you?"
He gave me a smile, it wasn't a friendly smile-the kind that you would give to someone that was confused and quite actually scared-it was more devious, "Why, I'm Pan; Peter Pan, that is. And welcome to Neverland."
I laughed at his words, "What?" tried to stand up, but I needed the tree to help me do it. The boy lifted himself up like the world wasn't tilting beneath me.
"I'm Pan, and these are my lost boys." He gestured to the crowd of boys.
"Okay ha, ha, very funny now where are we?" I tried to look him in the eyes, but there were two of him and I wasn't quite sure which one to look at.
"I told you, we're in Neverland." He persisted.
I wanted to roll my eyes, but I couldn't, "What kind of warped Lord of the Flies thing do you have going on here?"
"Lord of the what?" he replied.
I shook my head.
"Look, I think you should sit down, love. You took a lot of pills, they probably aren't all out of your system yet, that's why you're so dizzy."
My mind went back to my last memory.
"I need to go home." Was all I said.
"Can't do that, sorry."
"Why? Can't you just like call a cab? How far are we from-"
"I had to save you, you were dying, so I gave you water from the Spring."
"What spring, what are you-"
"Just listen and try to follow along. My shadow came back with you in his arms and dropped you off by the Spring. The magical spring, does wonders. Cures everything, but-you see-all magic comes with a price."
I went along with his obsurd story, "What price is that?"
"You can never leave the Island."
"What happens if I do?" I looked at him with so much confusion, that he gave me a pitiful smile.
"You die."
